The PNAC decloaks itself and attacks Larry Johnson
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 05:46 PM by Stray Roots
Atleast their defenders can't claim they are a conspiracy theory anymore. This is also and indication they are running out of defenders.

Front-paged at http://www.BoomanTribune.com.

Gawker-wannabe Gary Schmitt, the head of Project for a New American Century, shoots off his mouth in "Meet Larry Johnson," a snarky sniper piece at The Weekly Standard.

Well, it's good to see that the former CIA employee is now worried about the war on terror. But it's a bit late.

Matt Yglesius at TPM Cafe -- and astute comments below Yglesius's piece -- make Schmitt look like shit:

We just knew this had to happen, right? Johnson's and other intel experts' testimony on Friday was too damn credible. Yesterday, I posted this diary -- "Did MSM & GOP Blogs Cover Friday's Hearing? -- after finding no attack dogs. But, Monday's a new day:

He can probably speak up for himself, but a few comments seem to be in order in response to the attack on Larry Johnson by Project for a New American Century head Gary Schmitt that's up on The Weekly Standard website:

4. PNAC were the ones who convinced Bush to ignore bin Laden and
not attack him for the bombings and focus on getting into Iraq.

More myths. Intelligence officers had bin Laden as #1 on the hit list. They were screaming at Bush & his staff to retaliate.

7. We have a chance here to wake people up...
I've never missed an opportunity to engage someone in such a way that they are receptive to new information.

Whether it's at the gas pump when people are bitching about gas prices, in the store where people complain about chicken breast being $5 a pound, or just anywhere the news is on and I can give off an audible snicker.

I say, "Well, that's all because of energy prices... and it's only going to get worse."

Usually I get murmurs of agreement, that is a good sign of receptivity. To these I respond, "Hey, if you like putting things together, I can give you three things to google that you'll really get a kick out of."

"Really? What's that?"

"Well, you have to put some thought into it to see how they fit together, but you strike me as pretty bright so I think you'll find it kind of neat."

"Ok"

"Look up...", then I give them three out of the following (depending on the circumstances); "PNAC" / "Peak Oil" / "Reserve Currency" + "Iraq"/ "building 7 footage" / "downing street minutes"

Never more than three... too much is off-putting.

I've not yet failed to get someone to write these down, and everytime I've checked back with the store clerk, the cashier, the guy at the gym... who ever, where ever, they give me some variation of, "Wow... the world seems a little different now..."

I've had people respond with everything from, "It's harder to sleep at night", to, "Yeah- I figured there was something going on."

Not yet have I been called a conspiracy nut... but I'm ready with a response for that one.

So everyone here has an obligation to take any and every opportunity to educate others. Never pontificate. Always use the 'Hey, wanna see somethin' REALLY neat?' (or 'scary'... any variation will do) right after establishing receptivity.

If everyone at DU did this everyday, the world would be a different place overnight. If even 5% of DU'ers did this all the time... then we can be assured that we will one day get our Democracy back.
