Christianexodus.org: Should I get a bumper sticker?
According to ABC news they are a group of fundamentalists who want to 1. move to South Carolina; 2. outnumber the non-fundamentalists over time ( it shouldn't take them long) and then...by far the best part...3. secede from the union.

Does the fact that I think this is the best idea to come down the pike in a long time make me a bad person?

Seriously, shouldn't this be encouraged? Seems to me it would solve about seventeen major national problems at once... starting with returning the senate to the DEMS.

So what's wrong with it?

1. Absolutely nothing
let them go, I won't argue. We can build highways around their archaic and medieval state.

3. There is a lot wrong with it.
1 State, then what? Another?

Have you forgotten? We are the "United States of America," not 1 state less. Church & State is not how our country was founded. Do your homework on the original immigrants, and why they came to this country.

I've been going to church since a child and I'll be damn if I'd have this crap in my state. What about ALL THE OTHER RELIGIONS, huh? What about those that "CHOOSE" to have spirituality within their minds, not run by some huge church.

I could be here all day writing about this. Nuff said.

17. Hey, Aunti.... do YOUR homework! Many of the originals....
came to these blessed shores for precisely the same reason the new christian separatists want to secede. To establish a parochially-conceived heaven-on-earth utopia. The freedom of religion stuff evolved over MUCH passage of time.

Yes the scheme will be hard on non-fundamentalists in SC. No doubt. That's a tough one. Might have to be that some folks will have to make the sacrifice in the interest of the greater good.

We could talk $$$ compensation.

9. But they have there own flag already....
it's got a cross on it and one or two stripes ( possibly representing i.q. pts?... okay... sorry, that was mean).

And they don't seem to want to go anywhere else... they're content with SC... at least for now. Ant they WANT to secede; the want to no longer be associated with the good old USA.

Yes, it would be better if they went to.... Outer Mongolia, or wherever... but they probably feel they'll be tolerated in SC.

15. If they hurry, they can make the fast Shuffle to the Shuttle.
How 'bout Mars? No. Not far enough away. And that banner, well, they think it's got something to do with that new-version bible crammed down their non-thinking minds and some sick Revelation that the south is going to rise again, yes, against the north. Many of "them" believe slavery is "OK" because they're in that book.

Oh, they make me sick with their loony-toony thoughts. Yet, I actually feel sorry for some of them. The flocks are far from diversities, educational resources, devoid of tolerance of others because they lived entire lives, generation after generation amid only themselves.

Then the false profits step-in w/their govt fundings. Next thing you know there are brand stinking' new Evangelical Church's popping-up all over the place, with your tax-dollars hard at work paying for all this. While so many historical olden churches crumble around us.

Like I said, I could be here all day debating this issue. Shew. And I would know. Trust me on that one. I would know.

23. Florida and Texas have some pretty good birds
Florida has the 'glades, and texas has Ann Richards, Jim Hightower, Molly Ivins, and many other progressives. It's also the biggest state in the lower 48. In a later post I suggested Nebraska. We can afford to lose Nebraska.

28. Yes, I object to letting them have any part of the current US land mass.
I hear there's a lovely little spot in Guyana that's available...

Seriously, if these individuals are SO enthralled with the Bible and literal interpretations etc., shouldn't they be going to settle in the Middle East? Of what POSSIBLE Biblical relevance is South Carolina?

that way Jesus can return and condemn the Jews to everlasting hellfire.
There's a particular chronology that must be followed as I understand it.

If the Christian Fundamentalists repatriate to the ME ahead of time it will disrupt the sequence and spoil all the fun of seeing the burning infidels.

Now, I dunno, respectfully when I know NY, NJ and even MA pays 218 million in taxes so these type of people can do as they damn well please.

Since all this really means is more Republican votes. You think the repukes in my state are going to discourage it?

The Republicans will just humor the fundies and not take them seriously like they always do...and the fundies will let them because they hate Democrats so much.
