I confess: I don't ever listen to Air America radio...here's why
Because I can't get it on the radio in my effing car, that's why. Yes, I know I can listen to it streaming online, but I can't just sit in front of my computer and listen to the radio. Partly because I'm ADD as hell and can't do that, and partly because I don't sit long enough here to get anything out of it.

At work, I can listen to music in my headphones all day, but talk radio would be very different. You really gotta pay attention. Besides, I don't think my company would be crazy about me streaming a radio broadcast online. The fact that it's Air America wouldn't bother them, it's all about the bandwidth.

And then I discovered PODCASTS!!! I can now download The Majority Report and Al Franken, etc... to iTunes then shoot them over to my iPod and listen in the car every day. Thank you Apple for giving me Air America radio in a format that works for me. Oh, and fuck you Tulsa for not broadcasting it on the radio. I can get Rush, O'Reilly (twice a day) Hannity, and every other fucking nutbag on the radio, but no AAR.

Podcasts baby, that's where it's at. Also some great podcasts from infidels.org, but that's another discussion. Perhaps I'll go there when I've had some alcohol. ;)

23. I go to both
Edited on Mon Jul-25-05 11:31 PM by FreedomAngel82
WRS has some shows that aren't on AAR Place. AAR Place has shows that WRS doesn't have (like Majority Report, Franken and Springer). I recommend both.

7. Same here in St. Louis...
It sucks. What really sucks is that we're actually a pretty blue city but there is a "W" cult to the west. Alot of money is there and, well, you know....

27. Cool. You will have no problem finding great eats.
Beverages too! Many are close to the ballpark. There is one place that I think is pretty decent, Dierdorf and Hart's (as in Dan Dierdorf and Jim Hart from the, now defunct, Big Red football Cardinals). Damn good steaks.

Have fun! It's a great city.

On the web site, left most column has "find radio station near you"

www.democracynow.org

This is Amy Goodman's organisation. If you already know this stuff, sorry.

20. Why?
Dallas County voted 51-49 for Bush in 2004. We're not as red as some people think.

I honestly didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I guess I was just shocked because Dallas is only like 3.5 hrs away, and sometimes I feel like I'm on a fucking RED island here.

12. I never listed to it either--
it's a little too much to listen to at work. But I just got XM Radio--had no idea AAR had moved over from Sirius. Tonight I listed to Randi Rhodes coming home from work--and I may be hooked.

Try XM Radio--it's probably the only way we'll get it here in Oklahoma.

That way if I miss a show or something I can download it and put it on my ipod and listen in the car or something. It's nice to have on a long trip but next month my town is getting AAR. HURRAY!

25. Live Podcast & WiFi...The Next Step
I have a Linksys Audio Link...internet radio that works on the new extended WiFi Networks so I can tune in to literally thousands of stations in digital quality, including KGO, most the Pacifica stations Public stations. There's only one AAR affiliate on the system...a station in Key West that doesn't carry the programming at night.

The new generation web radio are on the way...either local or wide area wifi and will be portable, so you can listen in the car or anywhere. What's even neater are the designs to incorporate this radio into cellphones, PDA and other devices. I-Pods are already being set up to take live streaming as well as archived programs...as is the Linksys system. IMO, these radios sound as good, if not better than the satellite radios, are cheaper to buy, have more functionality to them and will be radio's future.

But then what do I know???
