Jingoism Bumper Sticker Alert
A lot of out of town people are coming into Austin today for the football game with Tulane. The sticker I saw on an SUV said:

ANOTHER HOUSEHOLD IN SUPPORT OF PRESIDENT BUSH
and our troops.

The "and our troops" part was in smaller letters than the "President Bush" part.

Despciable.

3. just what I was thinking
tagged on there as an afterthought. Everytime I see one of those Bush/Cheney 04 stickers, I know that there is an idiot at the wheel ahead of me.

2. The obvious counter measure is ...
bumper stickers that say "I support Clark and our troops", or "I support Dean and our troops", or ... insert the name of your favorite candidate.

5. BSG, I agree that this stinks but cannot for the life of me figure out how
you could be so surprised at it. I made the BIG mistake of going to a party after the party with some people out this way (in west Texas today) and when we pulled up, they had a "We support the president and our troops sign " on the front lawn. Those were the most bigoted, creepiest right wingers I have ever been face to face with. I left very quickly, (They also were all sots, big time.)

9. The "We support the president and our troops " sign is on our fire
station that I must go by daily. I so want to put an addendum that says "Thank you for supporing Al Gore" but the RWers would probably jail me.

10. Bush doesn't need support
He is not risking his life. He is not stuck in the hot, forbidding desert marching with a 60 pound pack.
He gets to play god with other people's lives while sitting in a cozy white house office chair.
