11. I have a good friend with the first name "Franklin" and the middle name
"Delano".

I did not make that up.

2. Considering what we've got now, I'm beginning to think
Clinton should be canonized. Saint William.

Seriously, on other discussion boards, I've observed that Bush supporters spend a lot of keystrokes trashing Clinton. They can't defend what Bush does, so they don't try: they just trash Clinton.

3. GWB - and why do you hate America?
You godammed libruls are ruining this country. Soon president Santorum will take over and run you idiots into the ocean.

<end sarcasm>

That's really a creepy thought - president Santorum. I'm going to take a shower.

5. Now you did it!
There will be over 100 replies to this post, about how Bill Clinton bankrupted the country with NAFTA, personally killed 500,000,000 children in Iraq, bombed the (sic) Sudan, "was the best Republican president we've ever had", oppressed the U'we indians, kidnapped the Lindbergh baby, broke the Sabbath, pulled the wings off of butterflies, backsassed his Mom and never got a whuppin' for it, removed furniture tags, never shook well before using, and was a serial jaywalker.

AND they'll include links to the relevant Counterpunch articles.

Just you wait.

9. Looking at the continuing regional divide in this country...
I'm not so sure it was a good idea to "preserve the union".

16. Clue: Ignore the Blue/Red maps.
Most of the country is some shade of purple.

There are some quite liberal areas in Texas & I've heard rumors that parts of California are not perfect.

17. Clue: The country was "purple" back then too.
Certainly didn't stop the war from happening.

10. Exactly. Everyone can bitch about the Clintons, but they're WINNERS.
So really, until some other Dem comes along this century who actually wins things and sits in the White House--people have to deal with the Clintons.

12. Not to nit-pick, but Clinton - singular.
Only one Clinton has won the Presidency.

on his wife's career, I'd say we are also stuck with her. Particularly since she is now a Senator and is probably going to try for more than that.

14. As Far as Foreign Policy Goes
Edited on Tue Jul-26-05 03:08 PM by ribofunk
America has always had been imperialistic, under Democrats and Republicans alike. Clinton's foreign policy was probably less so than any president I can think of, including Jimmy Carter, who supported the Indonesian invasion of East Timor, the Shah of Iran's crackdowns, and did not think the Vietnamese deserved an apology.

Just as an example: After years of violent US-supported rule by the elite under many administrations, Haiti finally elected a populist leader, Aristide. After he was overthrown, Clinton brought him back with military force. Bush, by contrast, arranged for a military takeover of the elected government.

15. W has made me appreciate Clinton as president
I didn't know then I had a good thing. Give me Bill Clinton over the current management any day of the week. Clinton was intelligent, thoughtful and at least cared about working Americans. Give me Clinton again and I would be happy. Give me back our surplus and our international integrity.
