Roberts and Iran-Contra.....?
Randi just brought up a helluva point. While Rberts was working in the Reagan and B*sh 1 Whitehouses.. Was he involved in their defense during the Iran-Contra hearings?

2. Good gawd that would be so disturbing!!!!
If true, even the extreme fundamentalists would be hopping mad because their agenda is being set aside to create a SCOTUS that protects criminal activities.

No. Seriously. If true, that is sick,...appointing a man who defended the corporacultist politico criminals,...YIKES!!!! That is disturbing as all get out!!!

10. Negroponte, Abrams, Poindexter
Poindexter was put in charge of the "Total Information Awareness" programme which was meant to collect all available information in every private database about every US resident in order to make "threat profiles" about everyone and find out who is "likely" to become a terrorist (à la Minority Report). :puke:

3. This may result from a mistaken association in the...
... Congressional Iran-Contra report. There were two Roberts in the White House at the time. John G. was deputy counsel to the President. John B. was in the political office of the White House, and it was the latter mentioned in the Iran-Contra report.

Now, is there something else referring to private conversations between Roberts and the major participants in the White House with regard to how to behave in the investigation? Possibly, but there's no evidence that's surfaced yet to verify that. But, virtually all of the Roberts documents relating to his White House service are at the Reagan library and only a small number are available to public through the net. Anyone who wants more would probably have to make an FOIA through the National Archives.

Cheers.

The people live in misery
Govemment a work
But govemment them is a monckery
Respect to the youths
Whether in front and all dem a back a me
Why don't you treat them the way you should
And I know all the things you hide
Even though it's a good disguise
And we see all the things you do
And what you do will comeback on you
You think we can't fight what the eyes can't see
Because we are blinded by poverty

The people live in misery

Peace.

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - How ever long it takes, the day must come when tens of millions of caring individuals peacefully but persistently defy the dictator, deny the corporatists their cash flow, and halt the evil being done in Iraq and in all the other places the Bu$h neoconster regime is destroying civilization and the environment in the name of "America."

11. I can't stand this freaking administration!!!!!!!
stupid asses, always something to hide. Can't let anyone see Bolton's documents, can't let anyone see Robert's documents. Doesn't anybody in this country get it? Why would they hide these documents unless they have something to hide. Senators can be trusted with this info, can't they?

Tuesday WH Briefing: John Roberts and Iran-Contra

By E&P Staff

Published: July 26, 2005 5:00 PM ET

NEW YORK Virtually giving up, at last, on getting Press Secretary Scott McClellan to comment on the Plame/CIA leak affair, reporters at today's White House briefing concentrated on another hot issue, the Democrats' attempt to get the White House to release more of a paper trail on Supreme Court nominee John Roberts.

The White House says it will hand over more than enough documents, while the Democrats want more.

One emerging hot button issue revolves around the holding back of Roberts documents from his days in the Bush I administration as a deputy in the Solicitor General's office, on grounds of client-attorney privilege. Of particular interest here, for some Democrats, is what advice Roberts might have offered leading up to President George H.W. Bush's pardon of Caspar Weinberger and others in the Iran-Control scandal.

But some feel that that client-attorney privilege argument may not hold, legally, so the White House may also be prepared to deny documents on “national security” grounds. This prompted perhaps the most pointed question of today's briefing (from a “Dana,” presumably Dana Milbank of The Washington Post), who asked near the end of the session, “Do you consider Iran-Contra a national security issue?”

“I haven't even thought about that, Dana,” McClellan replied, “to tell you the truth.”

Here are excerpts from the official transcript related to the Roberts documents:
