On the subject of advertising on progressive sites
I was listening to Al Frankin's show the other day (I believe it was Wednesday of last week) and heard an ad for eHarmony.com. eHarmony.com refuses to service gay clients and the founder of eHarmony.com has contributed articles to the magazine for Focus on the Family and he has appeared on the 700 Club.

http://www.queerday.com/2005/feb/23/eharmonycom_linked_to_conservative_religious_agenda.html

I sent them an email via their comments section about this the day I heard the ad. They haven't contacted me at all since.

I am not a regular listener so I don't know the extent to which eHarmony.com advertises on that show. But I would appreciate it if some regular listeners can contact them and get them to stop accepting ads from eHarmony.com.

1. If I hear one
I will certainly do that. I had not heard any and I did not know that about that company. I think it is great that AAR is getting a lot of support even though I hate some of the ads but that is totally inappropriate. Thanks for the heads up.

3. Anytime.
We have to be careful, not everyone knows about every company and if they don't we always need to tell them. We can't let these things slip by. I had no idea about that company but you can be certain that I will listen closely and write if I do hear it. Hopefully it will never be heard again.

5. as bad as the rest of those are
they aren't discriminatory. There is a big difference. If eHarmony.com refused to match white clients with black ones would Air America accept them as an advertiser?

7. They seem to advertise on many of the channels I watch...
Shows that will take money from just about anyone. When that grinning ass comes on, I can't change the channel fast enough, but I'm not going to begrudge their cash. FWIW, I'm not at all surprised that they don't cater to the gay crowd. They started out as a christian "matchmaker" service, they have only recently tried to service real people.
