I want Novak fired. Any chance of a temporary Chicago SunTimes boycott? |
|
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 08:28 AM by IdaBriggs
ON EDIT: My apologies to the New York Times! Doh! ON DOUBLE EDIT: I know why I was confusing the New York Times with Novak: I was thinking of Judith Miller and her WMD articles! Well, apologies still go to the New York Times for thinking they'd employ someone as LOW as Novak....
Regardless of whether a "crime" was committed, Novak turned a covert CIA agent's name into a Google search -- and his editors let him do it. NO ONE HAS BEEN FIRED FOR DAMAGING OUR NATIONAL SECURITY.
I'm more than a little pissed off about that. I'm livid. Unfortunately, I've gotten so used to this level of OUTRAGE that its become normal.
So, in an effort to "unnormalize" this, I'm asking you folks for some help:
Would organizing a "ONE WEEK" boycott of the Chicago Sun Times (and a list of their advertisers) help get the Chicago Sun Times folks to realize THEY need to take action on this case?
I believe the anniversary of Novak's outrageous article is coming up soon (I'll need to double check that, of course). Is it worth kicking up a fuss over?
Opinions? Ideas? Offers of help?

3. Let's wait and see what's going on. |

I don't think we know the Novak story yet. Maybe he's being a good guy behind the scene.

11. Coffee spit--bwahahahahaha! |
|
Oh, wait--you're serious. Novak may very well turn out to be on Bushco's payroll. He's every bit as guilty as Rove in the betrayal of a covert CIA operative. His column may very well have put the lives of CIA operatives around the world at risk, and has seriously damaged our ability to gather intelligence about WMD proliferation, according to the CIA. At best he's a shameless rightwing propagandist--a useful idiot and a reliable regurgitator of Republican talking points. At worst he's a traitor who belongs in a federal prison.

6. Well, he's toast at CNN |
|
I've contacted CNN many times over the past two years about unloading traitor-boy, and both Crossfire and The Capital Gang were cancelled - not that I had any influence. He's still on CNN once in a while giving the "political buzz," but his career visible on the tube is over.

7. LOL, you need to get your facts straight |
|
No wonder us Democrats have a credibility problem. NoFacts does not work for the NY Times. Boycotting the NY Times would be like going to war with Iraq in retalliation to 9/11.

Wrong country, wrong newspaper -- what's the difference? (That's supposed to be a self-deprecating joke!) I've edited the post for Reality. :)

Democrats lose the message when Republicans question every little error.

13. I did -- it was an error on my part (and an embarrassing one at that!) |
|
but I didn't feel like you were attacking me. Thanks for the double check, though -- and what do you think of the idea? :)
