"Panel OKs Karen Hughes for State Dept."
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday unanimously approved the nomination of Karen Hughes, a former political adviser to President Bush, as the State Department's top public relations official.

The Senate is expected to complete the confirmation process this week before leaving for its August recess.

Hughes' main assignment as Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs is to reverse anti-American sentiment around the world.

She said at a committee hearing last week that the challenge was "the urgent need to foster greater understanding, more respect and a sense of common ideals among Americans and people of different countries, cultures and faiths around the world."

6. Karen:
Here's a very simple way to reverse anti-American sentiment around the world. Persuade every member of the evil cabal that you serve to resign. Problem solved.

8. So she'll be bribing poor countries to declare"support" for the US
Sort of a coalition of supporters but they won't have to send "troops" to Iraq ?

I have no doubt that Democrats, independents and the politically apathetic in the US do share common ideals and values with people around the world - love of family and friends and the desire to lead a safe and peaceful life. What will she do - convert countries to government by corporate fiat? Further the case for American/GOP owned corporations exploiting impoverished laborers in third world countries? Maybe GOP corporate leaders could advise India on how to stomp out those pesky Indian workers protesting for better wages and working conditions?
Give seminars on how to more quickly enlarge the wealth gap between the very few at the top and the rest of their citizens? Demonstrate to all those stupid foreigners why the only thing that matters in life is this quarter's bottom line, and they should all withdraw from the Kyoto Treaty and the hell with their legacy to their kids and grandkids?
What a FARCE the appointment of this woman is!
