my own opinions. Alas, most of the time it ends up a flame-war, in which I participate vigorously.
Other times, when pursued long enough to return to civility, we usually discover that we're not as far apart as both of us thought. (Excluding the DLC'rs when we usually discover that we're farther apart than thought).
Still and all, it beats washing the car or weeding.

There are a variety of things that can -- and do -- happen. Some issues do not have a right or wrong; people are entitled to their own opinion. And others are very different. I guess it keeps it fun.

when I do choose to engage in debate, I get showered with ad hominems, red herrings, straw men, and so forth. I very seldom see much in the way of constructive debate, and an increase in lockstep, doctrinaire thinking, and irrationality, particularly when someone's pet axe is being ground.
