uh, excuse me but, this is NOT America, |
|
whatever the fuck country this is now, it ain't america, and i know it because I'M FROM AMERICA, i was fucking born there.
if bush can change the name of the so called war on terror to something more palletable, then we should rename the former america. dumbfuckinstan, oilmerica, bushopolis, stupidshitistan, new america, totalitaria, christopolis, bornagainmoronica.
stop calling yourself america, i KNEW america, and you're no america.

http://www.takebackthemedia.com/not-america.htmlThis is not America, sha la la la la A little piece of you The little peace in me Will die For this is not America
Blossom fails to bloom This season Promise not to stare Too long For this is not the miracle
There was a time A storm that blew so pure For this could be the biggest sky And I could have The faintest idea
This is not america, no, this is not, sha la la la la]
Snowman melting From the inside Falcon spirals To the ground So bloody red Tomorrow's clouds
A little piece of you The little piece in me Will die For this is not America
There was a time A wind that blew so young For this could be the biggest sky And I could have the faintest idea
This is not america, no, this is not, sha la la la This is not america, no, this is not This is not america, no, this is not, sha la la la]

why it is that people need to believe in the myth of America.
we all know this country has a very violent, racist, sexist origin- a culture of conquest that has right from the start been involved and wedded to omnicide.
So I guess it baffles me to see well informed and I feel certain wonderful folks feel the need to believe in this beast named 'america'.
Sure the Cheney-Negroponte cabal are the worst of vampires but really this situation in present day USA isn't an aberration from the course of history just a bit more exaggerated form and degree of corruption and violence.
It's time we all stopped living the lie that is America and moved on. Peace

to make America live up to it's promises... to live it's Constitution, to be better than it has been and as good as we can make it.
It was a new idea in the world when it started. No king, no inherited god-given right to rule....
We have to believe that we can make a difference.

It is the exceptions that shine, like yourself, but America has always been a rather macabre entity. Anything that got in HIS way was rubbed out or put to the margins be it the Cherokee, Daniel Shay or MLK.

51. "I understand the sentiment" |
|
And I understand your sentiment. A lot of us in Vietnam days and Reagan days associated the American flag with dead Indians and imperialism and latin american torture rooms.
But Nixon was at least honestly elected, and we had a free press (and underground newspapers, too!). Now as Bush steals elections with impunity and the press is silenced, we see in what we're losing what that flag really stands for. It's time to take it back! Before it's too late!
Plus this: if in your dissent you adhere to the democratic principles of this republic, those in the secret police who consider themselves patriots are going to have some severe conflicts about hassling you.

59. You know what's sad for me about that flag? |
|
It has become so tangled up in nationalism and hubris and brutality that I have the same visceral response to it that I have to the Nazi flag. Trust me when I say that it isn't a good visceral response.
I want to take the flag back from these fascists but when we have, I want to respectfully put it away and never look at it again. It isn't the flag's responsibility that it horrifies me, but as it stands now, it does.
I suppose if we do get it back from these weasels I should try to find my love for it again.

America as a system and a symbol and a modality of thought and a nation-state is not merely flawed but impossibly diseased. The infection will spread (IS SPREADING) if the sore is not lanced.
The republic that never was is no longer.
No need for nations and false ideologies, the history is all there in chains and scars for us to see.
Peace to you my friend, let us move into entirely different modes.

Most of us here are learning to wean ourselves but the memory lives on. And the memory, being as all memories are, is idealized, perfected in the stone of time. This one is such a generational memory that not only is it idealized and solidified, it is mythologized.
