Three Quotes .....
{1} "I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."
-- President George W. Bush

{2} "I don't know if we're going to find out the senior administration official. Now, this is a large administration,, and there's a lot of senior officials. I don't have any idea. I'd like to. I want to know the truth."
-- President George W. Bush

{3} "Usually, the term senior official refers to a vice president, cabinet officer, or top White House aide."
-- John W. Dean

I think that this clown makes Richard Nixon seem presidential.

1. Leave it to Bush**
to make us older citizens long for the days of Nixon.

As bad as that was then I was never this afraid. note: I am not male. Had I been male that might be a bit different.

9. It's strange.
For all of Nixon's failings (and they were many), he was a much better human being that either Bush or Cheney.

12. I know, it is very odd to be feeling
nostalgic about him. I hated him then and I hate what he did and tried to do but when I think back he was much better in so many ways than Reagan and Poppa Bush. This Bush** is not even capable of feelings for others. Cheney is a borg king. I shudder to think if Nixon had power now after all the work the Repubs have done, he could have succeeded but again, like you said, he WAS a better human being.

2. And then there's this quote
"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier. Just so long as I'm the dictator."

3. He's such a sociopath.
"Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."

Hell, we've heard his "explanations" before. What we want is the truth.

4. My guess
is that he did not take this ultra-rough tough guy approach when he spoke to Fitzgerald.

5. Will we ever know?
I saw that Karen Hughes has refused to "discuss the investigation" during her confirmation hearing today. She's a senior official too. I'd think that it would be practical to sideline her confirmation hearing, until after the investigation of course, given her refusal to discuss this.

7. In this type of situation,
a prosecutor would have to have some very specific information that he or she was after, in order to talk to the president. More, it means that the president is the only source for the specific information. (The same holds true for Dick Cheney.)

On one hand, a person could say that Fitzgerald is noted for being interested in complete accuracy, including in every detail. However, that alone would not be reason to talk to the president.

10. There'd be no reason to send a reporter to jail...
if this weren't big. They will have to answer to the public at some point.

There's no point in discussing the criminal, it just infects us
with his virus, as if we don't have enough.

11. Tell it to the Hague....
"I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation."
-- President George W. Bush

Would love to see Dimson tell that to the judges at the Hague...
