The Constant Gardener
I jsut saw a trailer for this movie...it looks really interesting....sort of like a "Confessions of an Economic Hitman" meats "Beyond Borders".

Also has the actor and actress from the "Girl in the Cafe" in it.

Should be an interesting political piece.

The movie is based on this book:

not much about the movie on the web yet - except an "in production imdb profile"

3. I had to throw the book across the room 1/2 way through. Too scary.

5. LeCarre's novel is apparently good reading for progressives.
A friend of mine is an avid John LeCarre fan, and upon reading The Constant Gardener a few years back, he told me that the themes addressed are very much matters on the minds of progressives.

DUers should also remember that LeCarre is one of the many Britons who marched in the antiwar demonstrations in the U.K. A profile of him in The New York Times some time ago noted that he never missed a demonstration! Sounds like my kind of author.

And needless to say, LeCarre is one of the most revered writers of political thrillers. You'll get a good read as well as food for thought.
