2. Not convinced...
Anyway, fifty years from now, when our planets life-blood has been bled dry...things like public schools may becomes somewhat irrelevant anyway. Sorry so cryptic.

3. What does this mean?!! Not convinced?
Ain't a matter of convincing. Facts are facts. Something most people seem to think they don't have to deal with. :think:

11. I'm very suspicious of those who feel the need to push their faith on
those who are clearly not interested.

I have long since went AWOL from the God wars in GDF; the only religion threads I respond to are the ones that take up the Constitutional question, and I side with the vast majority (non-believers and believers of ALL faiths) on that one.

I'm content enough with my faith not to share it with those that aren't interested. I pray at home, at church, I've even prayed for LOTS of DU friends whop have needed good vibes, karma, or blessings.

Sending one along to you in the hopes that you can understand we have more important issues to deal with.

4. I was once told a joke that
the saying that the right wing says that religion isnt allowed in public school is wrong because all over the nation before every pop quiz there are prayers.

10. Most people, actually.
And I'm a proud Christian. I have no problem with prayer on a personal level (how could anyone, really?) but any form of institutionalized spirituality is a big, Constitutional, no-no in my book.

Two threads on the same topic; What's your point?

14. This is as ridiculous a statement as:
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 06:47 PM by PassingFair
Who in here hasn't read bird entrails before taking a test? Or;

Who in here hasn't sacrificed a lamb before taking a test? or;

Who in here hasn't dragged a bloody chicken leg over their abdomen before taking a test?

Really, at least 14 percent of the population of this country checks the "no religion" box. In Scotland, it's 60 percent.

That you cannot wrap your head around even the idea that a rational human being would enter the testing either knowing that they have studied to the best of their abilities, or that their best chance is for an easy test without "divine intervention" proves that your post is, in fact, not a joke. Your kind of thinking scares me.

15. Cause you still don't understand what I'm saying.
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 09:16 PM by Solomon
It's impossible. People are just too hung up on religion to see the point. Fugedaboudit.

Nobody is forcing anyone to pray. If you're an atheist you don't have to pray.

On the other hand, people who want to pray are freely allowed to as they should be.

I'm not advocating religion or unadvocating it.

5. well, legally any student, on their own, can pray on their own
to any god or goddess they want.
It becomes illegal when the public school starts promoting it. Thats when its promotion of specific religion by a tax based school, and becomes subject to lawsuits.
