Wrong. Ben Franklin said it. Remember and spread the truth about this if anything anti-Christian message. Don't get me wrong, Ben Frankiln was a great dude, but the Bible is about PEOPLE helping others who can't help themselves ... among other things.

1. no aesop's fables
ben franklin no doubt knew and quoted the fables but this does go back to the greeks

little point in correcting an attribution with another mistaken attribution

3. God helps those who help the poor.
Matthew 25:

42 "'I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44 "They will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'"

4. Curious note about that passage from Matthew
NOWHERE does it say that any of the people accepted or rejected Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. The righteous are righteous solely because they fed the hungry, housed the homelss, clothed the naked and visited the sick and imprisoned.

Compare and contrast, lurkers:

Which is the party that feeds kids through Head Start and the food stamp program? And which party is always trying to gut those programs?

Which party favors subsidized housing so that people can transition from homelessness to renting and even buying their own homes? And which party says we can't afford to help people with housing while they're shoveling money out of the Treasury into the overstuffed pockets of the obscenely rich?

Which party has mau-maued the war on drugs which has succeeded in filling our prisons to the breaking point with non-violent offenders?

"Whatever you did not do for oneof the least of these, you did not do for me."
