FALLS CITY, Neb. -- Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said Wednesday that the marriage between a 22-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl is “repugnant."

Tuesday, Bruning filed charges against Matthew Koso, of Falls City, Neb. Bruning said Koso began a sexual relationship with the girl when she was 13. After the girl became pregnant, her mother gave permission in May for Koso to take her daughter to Kansas, which allows minors to get married with parental consent.

Koso faces a charge of first-degree sexual assault, punishable by up to 50 years in prison. He was released on a $7,500 bond.

Koso’s mother said her son was just trying to do the right thing. Peggy Koso said her son and daughter-in-law are staying with her. Peggy Koso said the couple is the picture of happiness.

Koso's parents, with his attorney at their side, said Wednesday that the young couple had been friends for years. They became sexually involved about a month before she got pregnant.

A guy who is 21 has sex with a girl who is 13.

She gets pregnant.

The two live in Nebraska, where it is illegal for a fellow his age to have sex with, or marry, a girl her age.

With consent from the girl’s mom, the two are married in Hiawatha, Kansas.

The bride, now 14, was in a special education program in their hometown of Falls City. That means she has a learning disability, or some other problem. The groom, Matt Koso, was a special education client when he was in school. He is now 22.

The issue: Should the now-husband stand trial in Nebraska for rape? Or, did the marriage balance the scales of social justice, making prosecution unnecessary

These kids are disabled. Where the hell were these parents? WTF is wrong with these people?

As a Kansan, I am writing my state reps to have this law changed so 14 year olds canNOT get married, even with parent permission.

And I hope they charge this girl's mother with failing to report a rape.

Bruning called Koso a pedophile and also blasted the Kansas law that allows girls to marry at age 12 with parental consent.

And here in Kansass, OUR attorney general is trying to pry in to private medical records, closing women's clinics and shutting down Indian casinos. Some priorities, eh??

Sounds like he groomed her, and for all we know he could have been molesting her the entire time.

Sorry, but I wouldn't let my 8 year old play with a 16 year old, 9 year old play with a 17 year old, etc, and I certainly wouldn't marry off my pregnant 13 year old daughter. What century are these people living in?

8. Help me understand this

Last year, a Richardson County judge issued the protection order against Koso, but when the girl became pregnant, the judge lifted the order.

Who decided a protection order was needed? And WTF would a pregnancy cause a judge to lift the order????
