Lieberman and Graham will have to drop out. If Edwards (and perhaps Kerry's) numbers don't get much better and they don't have a good showing in New Hampshire and Iowa they will probably drop out. That will give a "bounce" to some of the other candidates.

I think that Lieberman's support will go to Gephardt or Kerry (I think a lot of their support comes from people who are into the "name recognition" thing).

If Braun, Sharpton and Kuchinich drop out who will get their votes?

Also, will Gore endorse Clark? I have the feeling he will. Wonder if that will give him much of a bounce.

2. If those three drop out who would I support
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 12:19 AM by JohnKleeb
That is Kucinich, Moseley Braun, or Sharpton
Its a tough question and despite my staunch opposition to IWR,
I really would go with Kerry. I know a lot dont feel good about him with IWR, and believe me I do NOT like it and I opposed the war like you did. I am also a progressive and Kerry is progressive on the issues, I admire him for how he served in Vietnam, and I think hes a neat guy too.

3. Except he's already looking like an ass
on the recent debates. He really has got to go. His 15 minutes of presidential fame has been long used, and went overtime, making him look worse by the minute.

Yu're right, he really does look like an ass on the debates and everywhere else he shows up with his stupid little grin and pompous fat ass.

Yeah, I'm really fucking sick of Deanies.

7. You're so right!

What is up with his bottom lip? 98% of the time his lips hang open! Even when he's not talking. I suspect he may be a mouth-breather. It isn't his smile, just when he's relaxed.

I only add it now so someone can tell him about it. It's distracting because it looks like he's "catching flies".

On edit:

What's his body mass index? He DOES look pudgy! I am suspicious of a rich PHYSICIAN who can't control is weight.:) In fairness, it could be camera weight. Healthcare starts at home, buddy.

4. I am leaning that way also John.
If Dennis, Carol and Al are out by the time the Ohio primaries come I will probably vote Kerry. Other possibles: Edwards.

8. Graham will be out after Iowa.
Lieberman will hold on through the South before dropping, not sure how long, though. I think Clark will be picking up lots of votes from both, assuming he keeps building his campaign. I don't see too many of those people going to Dean, though, because Graham and Lieberman are establishment guys, and Dean is nominally the anti-establishment candidate. Graham is hawkish, anyhow, and his supporters (all 2% of them :/ ) wouldn't likely be interested much in Dean. Lieberman unravelling means a fair chunk of votes will be coming up for grabs, and Lieberman's super-establishment, pro-war positions hardly make the typical Lieberman voter interested in Dean. Dean's got a lot of money, and I suspect he's going to need it to stay competitive. The more and sooner other candidates drop, the more Clark, and I suspect in particular, Kerry, will grow stronger.

9. I can't speak for the rest.
I can say that some DK supporters will return to independent or 3rd party status and won't vote in the primary. My 2 "runner's up" would drop before DK, if anything, leaving me high and dry in the primary. I don't think Dennis will drop, if we're able to raise enough money to keep him in the race. A little harder than raising money for some others, since he doesn't take corporate or PAC donations. I don't want him to drop. I want to be able to cast my vote for him.

For all of the DUers who have rolled their eyes, told me to "get a clue," "he'll never win," and other patronizing remarks, I have to say this:

Only one will win. That means we now have 9 who won't win. Yet, they are still bringing valuable ideas and energy into the mix. With only one winner, 5 of the 6 supposed front runners "won't win." But you won't see them dropping out.

If Dennis wins, I'll be celebrating an American Renaissance. If Dennis doesn't win, my vote and campaign sweat and $$ will have been well spent; he will have kept the issues that are important to me public and visible, making it more difficult for the nominee to sweep them under the rug.

If the unthinkable happens, I will cast a vote in the primary. Unfortunately, it would be more a vote "against" a possible nominee than a vote for someone I really want to win the nomination. But I'll do it anyway. Undecided about who at this point; I don't have to make that decision unless DK drops out. My choice would probably be Edwards or Kerry.

10. I think you've misread this whole situation.
IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) just endorsed Kerry and they were Gore's fiercest supporters. He also signed up Harold Ford of Tenn. and Jeanne Shaheen of NH as his cochairs. Ford is VERY close to Gore. I don't think that this is just a coincidence.
