Beginning to think of uprooting and moving to Canada.
I would like to live in a 'quaint' town - moderate weather - close to medical care. Is this too optimistic? Any suggestions as to where to begin my search?

Thanks all!

3. I was thinking that as well.
I had thought of Bend, Oregon - but now I'm not sure that I even want to stay in the states at all.

6. Bend is nice, but so far removed from the everyday, IMO
at least Medford, Oregon has easy connections to San Fran and now they even have 2 non-stop flights to LAX (Horizon and American)...but Southern Oregon is pretty conservative, with the exception of Ashland.

I just spent a week looking for a place to live there. Forget it, that's all, just forget it.

2. If you're looking for a moderate climate...
you'd best stick to looking in B.C.

I've been to Kamloops...gorgeous...most of the suburban Vancouver communities are nice, IMO...let's hear from the locals now

If you can't do it....move to the interior of BC....Kamloops, Vernon,Kelowna, Penticton etc....there is a small community in Summerland and Peachland....next to Lake Okanagon....but watch out for the Ogo Pogo...lake monster!!:hi:

5. don't give up ...
this country is too important. The biggest mistake citizens have made is taking democracy for granted. Now we're seeing the consequences.

Some are waking up. After CAFTA's passage, there will be lots of very angry red state farmers and lots of furious manufacturing workers. They will vote in 2006.

It's up to us to wake up the rest of the political sleepy-heads.

The republicans have dug themselves into a pretty deep hole. So have many democrats. Their days are numbered.
