Well, we're now in a period of quiet on the Rove Affair. News on the Plame leak has slipped off the front page at GoogleNews. That's not unexpected; it's precisely what happened during the Watergate scandal.
After a few weeks of feeding frenzy there will be those who will interpret this lull as managed news but that isn't necessarily true. Little Scotty is still having to spew his daily stonewalling. It's apparent that the WH press corps has not yet sated themselves with the affair. They're still hungry.
Now we will wait until the next revelation hits. It may be a bit agonizing but I think and I hope that the press may be finally doing their work, doing a little digging, searching for the truth. Their managers know that these are the stories for which Pulitzers are awarded. And even if they are managed by big corp media a juicy Pulitzer makes for higher profits.
What helps here is *** rapid plunge in the public's eye. Of course the Rove Affair helps this, as does virtually everything the administration says about Iraq. This erosion will not stop until it reaches the bedrock of supporters who would support *** even if he ate children live on prime-time TV. (You can take "live" either way.) This may give the poli scis a good reading of precisely where that bedrock lies.
Don't lose heart, DUers. This is only a temporary respite for ***. It's actually a good thing because that will highlight the impact of any upcoming revelations.
If you get impatient, review the
Watergate Chronology at the incredible
watergate.info Web site. Like in that 197x affair, things are happening in the background now.
It's difficult to wait after the past few weeks of feeding frenzy. Just relax and savor the moment. *** is doomed. It's comin'. Maybe soon. Be patient. We have time.
Just some random thoughts.
