Random thoughts on Rove slipping from the front page.
Edited on Thu Jul-28-05 02:13 PM by longship
Well, we're now in a period of quiet on the Rove Affair. News on the Plame leak has slipped off the front page at GoogleNews. That's not unexpected; it's precisely what happened during the Watergate scandal.

After a few weeks of feeding frenzy there will be those who will interpret this lull as managed news but that isn't necessarily true. Little Scotty is still having to spew his daily stonewalling. It's apparent that the WH press corps has not yet sated themselves with the affair. They're still hungry.

Now we will wait until the next revelation hits. It may be a bit agonizing but I think and I hope that the press may be finally doing their work, doing a little digging, searching for the truth. Their managers know that these are the stories for which Pulitzers are awarded. And even if they are managed by big corp media a juicy Pulitzer makes for higher profits.

What helps here is *** rapid plunge in the public's eye. Of course the Rove Affair helps this, as does virtually everything the administration says about Iraq. This erosion will not stop until it reaches the bedrock of supporters who would support *** even if he ate children live on prime-time TV. (You can take "live" either way.) This may give the poli scis a good reading of precisely where that bedrock lies.

Don't lose heart, DUers. This is only a temporary respite for ***. It's actually a good thing because that will highlight the impact of any upcoming revelations.

If you get impatient, review the Watergate Chronology at the incredible watergate.info Web site. Like in that 197x affair, things are happening in the background now.

It's difficult to wait after the past few weeks of feeding frenzy. Just relax and savor the moment. *** is doomed. It's comin'. Maybe soon. Be patient. We have time.

Just some random thoughts.

1. I believe that even a terrorist attack would not end this for
the White House. America is waiting to see what will happen.

In fact, a terrorist attack is the last thing Bush needs, and I'm SURE they are working HARD to prevent one. An attack would all blow up in the administration's face as America would grow insanely outraged with their incompetence

They don't have the poll numbers to survive another failure, especially after touting how much safer we are. (And on a near-to daily basis, at that.)

2. I'm not worried about this
When the indictments hit and Rove, Libby and whoever else gets fingered gets released, it will become THE story for the rest of W's term. There will be indictments; bet on it.

3. It's in a Court of Law....I'm not worried.
not only the Court of Public opinion. I still have a bit of faith left there are people with integrity left in our Criminal Justice System...and after all, * is attacking that system too.

4. The Lull Doesn't Bother Me At All
The Lull doesn't bother me because I know that the indictements are comming just as surly as a glacier. That is very satisfying.
