A commonly used phrase by the christian right referring to Jesus. This same slogan should be put on placards with the pictures of sons, daughters and other loved ones that died in Iraq when people protest in front of the white house. Let's see if that message gets through. (BTW, it can be he or she)

to christians like me who are not hard right, but do believe that Jesus died for my sins.
To believe does not make one a bad person just because others misuse the religion for bad purpose.

Do you believe the soldiers dying in Iraq are dying for a good cause? If not, then are they not dying for Bush's sins?

14. I do not believe that dying in Iraq will accomplish much, |
|
and I am against our being there.
And I agree they are dying for Bush's mistakes, but to use the language of faith (it was used long before Iraq) in such a caviler fashion is insulting to those of us who take their faith in a serious manor.
That was my only point.
Is it any wonder why a large portion of progressives and the Democratic party are considered a-religious at best and anti-religious for the most part?
It does us no good to be so reflex against all things of faith.
When we do we prove the right wing stereo type to be valid.

22. I don't agree that the slogan as indicated is anti-faith |
|
I think it's a good idea, and I don't think there's anything inherently anti-christian to put "he/she died for your sins" on a placard with a picture of a fallen soldier as a way to protest the sins of the bush adminsitration.
I understand and appreciate your sensitivity to the issue, but I think there are a lot of progressive christians who would not consider it or similar actions to be areligious or anti-religious.

10. It's OK though because Jesus lives! |
|
He's not dead, so he never was because to be dead is to cease to exist and he's never done that, according to everyone I know who follows that stuff.

And use it against them as if to say, "Jesus died for our sins, but my son/daughter died for yours Mr. Bush!"

23. I always resented that scripture. |

I didn't ask Jesus to do that. I don't want that responsibility. I don't want a martyr on a cross when the life of Jesus and how he treated those less fortunate should be plenty of evidence to teach people the right way to live.
