The "war on terror"...... uh...nevermind...

Don't call it a "war" anymore. It is now a "worldwide struggle against violent extremism". It is now a "struggle". Just like Jon Stewart pointed out on his show last night.

It is much easier to walk away and withdraw from a struggle than a war. It makes it much easier for those politicians that voted for the "struggle" to begin with, because they were a threat to our very existence.

But now, we are getting close to the next election and the "struggle " is not going very well. And it is so much easier to withdraw troops from a struggle since we can leave it to the Iraqis to take care of a little "struggle". It's not so politically correct to withdraw from an ill-advised war of choice.

But, if you don't don't like the chocolate pudding, just call it tapioca and move on. No big deal. Forget about those troops that died in the "worldwide struggle". It was worth it. It got George Bush and the Republicans re-elected.

2. There was NEVER a War On Terror...

NEVER. Afghanistan was about punishing the Taliban for not letting Dick Cheney build an oil pipeline. Iraq was and is about control of oil and establishing permanent US bases in the Middle East (14 so far.)

Dear Ms. Xxxxx

Thank you for contacting me. I always enjoy hearing from my constituents.

I supported the President's decision to go to Iraq, and, regardless of recent reports, I continue to believe that was the right decision.

I also believe that it is in our best national interest to promote order and stability in this volatile region of the world and to starve the intolerant forces of extremism and terror.

Our men and women in uniform have done an outstanding job in Iraq working to liberate the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein's regime, and helping them begin the rebuilding process. I will continue to support our President and our troops as they promote democracy and peace throughout the Middle East.

5. Perception becomes reality.

The RW has clever language manipulators. They have figured out how to frame issues to their favor. The RW has applied advertising methods to politics and PR is as important as governing. "War On Terror" was getting hackneyed and trite so they changed the language to alter the perception. Amerika is mostly a soundbyte nation. Slogans are prime. Orwell was ahead of his time and correct.

Amerika has moved from being a Plutocracy to a Corporatocrisy. The proper name is Fascisism but it is best not to use that word. That word conjurs up Hitler for most and the Holocaust. It is the wrong perception. Corporatocrisy is too intellectual. Perhaps Corporate Rule is more apt. I am not great at framing the issue or creating slogans. Dems surely need someone or a group to work on the language and framing.

8. This renaming of war, and with such convoluted language,

makes them look like screwballs to the average sane American. we expect that kind of behavior from out of touch, ivory tower eggheads. It was not a smart move on their part. It stinks like the worst elements of political correctness.

But then, that's fascism for you.

It's irritating.
