Poppy Bush on exposing the CIA... quite a timely quote

"Even though I'm a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors."

Remarks By George Bush
41st President of the United States,
At the Dedication Ceremony for the George Bush Center for Intelligence

26 April 1999

Someone has to use this in an article.

9. Poppy was
Director of Central Intelligence and head of the Central Intelligence Agency from 30 January 1976 to 20 January 1977.

I cannot imagine that he would be pleased with what Rove has done--i.e.exposing the identities of CIA agents.

12. My letter to the editor.
To the Editor:

“CIA Operative Unmasked”. This story, tucked inside your News in Brief in the Sept. 28, 2003 edition of the Sunday News, deserved a front-page headline. The CIA has asked the Justice Department to investigate the White House to determine if administration officials revealed the identity of a CIA operative. The agent was identified in retaliation for her husband’s (former Ambassador Joseph Wilson) disclosure that the White House used bogus intelligence to justify the war in Iraq. Since unmasking an agent endangers the agent and all of the agent’s sources, disclosing the identity of a CIA agent is a felony.

To quote a former President and Director of the CIA:

"Even though I'm a tranquil guy now at this stage of my life, I have nothing but contempt and anger for those who betray the trust by exposing the name of our sources. They are, in my view, the most insidious, of traitors."
