Why a Republican feels that the California governor post is desirable
(a theory)

California's economy is the 4th/5th (whatever) largest in the world.

Right now, it's struggling (like every other state).

Businesses walk up and say, "Hey, we'd like to help out, Bush says the economy is picking up. We'll build a business in Southern Cal and hire tons of workers (mind you, they'll cross the border in the AM and go back home in the PM) and help bring $$$ to California. By the way, we'll need all kinds of tax breaks. Here's some $$$ to help you think it over."

Ron Popeil would be soiling the sheets with this one.
