Just to refresh our memory...a few of Kissinger's quotes. |
|
He is one of the scariest conservative figures, still in the background.
Ninety percent of the politicians give the other ten percent a bad reputation.
The absence of alternatives clears the mind marvelously.
The nice thing about being a celebrity is that when you bore people, they think it's their fault.
The real distinction is between those who adapt their purposes to reality and those who seek to mold reality in the light of their purposes.
There cannot be a crisis next week. My schedule is already full.
University politics are vicious precisely because the stakes are so small.
The illegal we do immediately. The unconstitutional takes a little longer.
Each success only buys an admission ticket to a more difficult problem.
Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful. This is especially true if they were told there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead with world leaders to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by their world government.
"I don't see why we need to stand by and watch a country go communist due to the irresponsibility of its people. The issues are much too important for the Chilean voters to be left to decide for themselves."

1. Hey Dick, I don't think that Augusto Pinochet is a bad sort |
|
The original 9/11 - when the US backed the coup in Chile replacing a fairly elected (but marxist) Salvador Allende with Augusto Pinochet. Pinochet spent the next 17 years in Chile torturing and murdering thousands of Chileans who opposed his rule. Many families in Chile still do not know the fate of their loved ones who simply "disappeared" during Pinochets reign of terror.

"Military men are dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy" (from Woodward & Bernstein's "The Final Days")
However, I'm not convinced of the "today Americans would be outraged if UN..." quote --- it's purpotedly from a Bilderberg conference, but I've never seen where the original citation if from -- & it sounds far too much like what right-wing paranoia of the UN would project on Kissinger than anything he'd say -- but then who knows!
I also love Mike Ruppert's (made up) approximation of what Kissinger would say in relation to peak oil:
"The problem is not that there is too little oil. The problem is that there are too many people."!!

Nixon said to K: The difference between us is that you actually care about the civilian casualites. From K: No, I only care so that you won't look like a monster.
