If this boils down to a Dean vs. Clark race
Who would the other candidates endorse?

My guess:

Lieberman - Clark
Gephardt - Clark
Graham - Clark
Kerry - Clark
Edwards - Clark
Sharpton - Clark
M-B - Tough call. Dean?
Kucinich - Dean

5. Do you remember the "Officer and a gentleman" quote?
Besides I am sure Rangel will push Sharpton in that direction.

9. well Major Owens is another prominent African-American
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 10:23 AM by CMT
in congress who has endorsed Dean as has 8/11 Democratic members of the DC city council which is predominately African-American, so I'm not so sure Sharpton or Braun need someone to nudge them towards the General they can make the decision of who to endorse on their own.

11. Wow
Do you think this is about us African Americans. Maybe you fail to realize that my comment about Rangel steering Sharpton towards Clark has to do with the fact that they are both Democrats from New York who share a lot of the same friends.

As for Braun, again this is about her loyalty to the party. . .not about her being African American.

6. Sharpton is in the Clark camp.
I have seen them together twice. He is very friendly to Clark. Clark put in the brief for affirmitive action. Sharpton slapped Dean the other day "brother Howard."

10. Sharpton was scolding Dean when he said that.
Sharpton is NOT a fan of Dean's.

Braun is a DNCer all the way, and a strong Clintonite. She will support whoever the DNC feels is strongest.

DK and Dean are MUCH further apart than many here have noticed. DK is also a greatly LOYAL Democrat. He will support who he believes is the best candidate for the Democratic party, especially at the top of the ticket, because the Dems have a gREAT chance to recapture Congress.

2. Lieberman will endorse Bush
It won't be intentional; just his subconscious dislike for all other Democrats shining through.

4. Braun would go with Clark
She is there to make the DNC happy as it relates to Sharpton. . .so she would probably back the eventual winner...Clark. Basically if we have a Democratic administration CMB will have a very high profile job in the White House. . .trust me. She is running for a job and its not president.

7. I honestly don't know and we may be surprised
I'm not so sure that Gep would endorse Clark. I'm also not sure about Graham, who as an ex-governor himself understands the kind of experience being a Governor can have towards being President.

I agree that Kerry and Lieberman would probably lean towards Clark.

12. Since Dean Insulted Graham By Saying He's Not A Major Candidate
months ago I doubt there's very much love lost between him and Dean....

13. Oh, yeah? Oh, yeah? Oh, yeah?

14. These are professional politicians
What would be the benefit to endorse a candidate before that candidate gets the nomination? There would very little to gain and much to lose. People can guess about leanings, but that's what it is, a guess. The rough and tumble process of a primary causes damage to relationships that last a lifetime. A smart politician is not going to add fuel to an already roaring fire.
