Wolfowitz on C-Span last night,
tried to play the scholarly, calm thinking person who cares so deeply about bringing democracy to the world. He never was asked what he thought the right price would be to liberate Iraq. How many Iraqi citizens should die to give them what you think they need and want? For the neocons the end always justifies the means, and the ends are so clear (in their view). But they never mention the immorality of what they did to accomplish their ends. Nor do they ever seem to see that there were other ways of helping innocent people besides dropping bombs on them, inviting terrorists into their land, occupying their country with 150,000 foreign troops, looting their religious artifacts, and destroying their security from theives and thugs. He also stated the new neocon spin on the reason for the invasion: a) terrorism, b) WMD, and c) human rights. He even had the audacity to weave 9/11 into the formula. All of it with a straight face.

1. I only saw a little piece of it, but .....
....if he wasn't asked any tough questions, it's probably because the interviewer was Jonah Goldberg's little brother Jeffy. Can't expect one neocon coward to put another neocon coward on the spot.

I saw part of "festival" last night. Wolfie was delivering the same rhetoric as Rumsferatu (nickname credit to unknown DU'er) when he was heckled several weeks ago by those women. Wolfie said something like, "Isn't it great that we have free speech here and now they hav it in Afghanistan and Iraq." Do they Wolfie? Do the dead civilians have free speech?

As far as the morality question goes, you are straight on target, about them saying the ends justify the means. They do not! It isn't moral to kill thousands of innocent people.

And I would extend the morality question further: "Christians" sucha s Shrub, et al, should abide by Christ-like fiscal responsibility, not just in charitable giving and providing for the poor and aged, but in protecting the fiscal state of our nation. This Administration is not only wrecking the environment for our children and progeny, but wrecking the budget for decades to come. Our porgeny will be paying for this folly for many years, and we will be paying for it in terms of having our Social security benefits cut, our Medicare cut, etc.

For a MBA, * has no sense of what drives long term prosperity.

4. Wolfawitz is the poster boy...
For The International Believe-Your-Own-Bullshit Association. For a quick overview of the toll this terrible malady takes upon its victims, go read Josh Marshall's webpage. Right now, victims are popping up all over DC. Looks like an epidemic that will claim victims that reach into the most rarified halls of power there.
