Poll question: Should We Have A Hispanic On The Ticket In 04 |
|
Hispanics are the fastest growing group of voters in America.... Making them a firm part of the Democratic constituency is critical to Democratic success in 04 and beyond...
I know they vote 65-35 Dem now but I want the Dems to lock up this vital group and break the back of the Republicans for good...
They are a vital part of the emerging Democratic majority....
Dems should speak to their issues as well as putting an Hispanic on the ticket in 04....
Do you think putting a Hispanic on the ticket makes good sense?
And if the answer is yes whom?

It's too vague to just say "We want a Hispanic on the ticket!" Although I think it would be a good idea politically, I want to see names...for example, Raul Grijalva gets   while Lincoln Diaz-Balart gets  .

I don't like the idea of putting someone on the ticket just because of their skin color or their culture. If we put a Hispanic on the ticket, it better damn well be SOMEONE who deserves the slot by merit, not by race.

4. Why play the race card? |
|
We just want great democrats to lead us home! Why should we go that direction? If you are going the race path, we have 2 super African-American candidates to choose from.
No Hispanic's have applied yet......

5. We should not try to put |
|
an Hispanic or a Black or a Woman etc on the ballot. We should try to put qualified PEOPLE on the ballot. Their race or sex should not enter into the calculations. If they're qualified and deserving they should be on the ballot, if they're not, they shouldn't be.

6. As long as you make it clear that "we" does not include Hispanics |
|
I think that the number of votes you would get in such a way would be comparable to the number of African-American teens who want to grow up to be like Condi Rice.
Low income voters and ethnic minorities, although marginalized to the point of virtual disenfranchisement, tend to be less gullible than the affluent voting class, not more.
