2. I was thinking about this today.
It's to come.

The rats are being cornered.

At least Nixon was nuts and had a couple of people around him who were not. This crew has 'way too much clarity at their disposal.

Not very cheery.

4. That image is creepy Mopaul....
...Are you a classic movie buff? There was a series of films directed by Fritz Lang while he still lived and worked in Germany during the 1920's and early 1930's which involved a character named Dr. Mabuse pronounce 'Maa_booz_eh'). He was a mastermind of an empire of crime.

The last film which Lang directed on Dr. Mabuse was titled "The Testament of Dr. Mabuse" and was to be released in early 1933, but the Nazi's banned the film. As a result Fritz Lang fled Nazi Germany for his safety and his life and came to the United States where he remained continuing his work. A print and negatives of "The Testament of Dr. Mabuse" was eventually discovered and was finally shown in Germany in I believe 1951 but in a much shortened version which was badly damaged. A restored version of the film was put together and released on DVD not long ago (2000) by the Criterion Collection and has 121 minutes of the 124 original minute length film and is excellent. It is in German and subtitled in English.

Lang shot that film in 1932 before the Nazis actually took power in January 1933, but with the post production time the film was not released until March 1933. The only showing upon of the original film was to the Nazi review board and a select audience of Nazi officials including Josef Goebbels who banned it for "failing to contribute to the health and welfare of the German people".

If you can, I highly recommend you get a copy of this newly restored release and watch the film, not so much as a historic piece of film making, but for it's prophetic relevance to what we are experiencing in this country today.

10. I agree.
We're still well fed, comfortable...we go about our lives, and our physical needs are met, with a few exceptions duly noted.

That, I fear, will change. Think of Germany in 1944 as the Russians turned the tide and rolled toward Berlin. Think of Germany in 1945...

We're not there yet. Maybe it's only 1940 or so.

17. the worst AND best is yet to come
the Bushies are ignoring public opinion and ramming ahead with their plans for the next war, but the American people, military, and even CIA will come to a breaking point where they will not cooperate in their own destruction.

We will come to a turning point that could be like the soldiers refusing to fire on their countrymen at Russia's White Palace during the coup against Gorbachev--or when they comply like Tianamen Square. I'm hoping Americans are anti-authoritarian enough that the first will happen.
