The false hope of "bi-partisanship"...
Many Democrats, mainly the more moderate types, are living in the past. They believe we need to be civil and work with the Republicans in a "bi-partisan" way. It is a dangerous illusion to hold in these times. Those that would agree with and attempt to appease the present Republicans are betraying not only their Party, but their nation as well. As someone once said, you can appease an alligator and he will only eat you last.

1. You are exactly right...you can't fight fire with gasoline
Appeasing the Repukes just stimulates them to ever-more outrageous demands. They know exactly what they're doing, they all sing from the same page, and the only "bi-partisanship" they recognize is male Repukes cooperating with female Repukes. Anyone who believes otherwise is dangerously deluded.

2. Funny: the "progressive" democratic party isn't progressing in battle plan
THey are fighting an old kind of political campaign. Your opponent and you see the campaign as "between" gentleMEN, you shake hands at the end of the debate or the vote and go home knowing that you pretty well know what your opponent is up to.

Not any more. The Repukes will stoop to any level of hate, smearing, lying, propeganda. The leaders are two faced monsters who will do and say anything to win. "Can't we all just get a bong" does not work any more. Our leaders are going to have to FIGHT BACK against this cabal. They cannot just cave in, or cowtow, or kiss butt. They have to FIGHT back. They have to call a lie a lie, bad policy bad, the wrong war wrong. They must demand judges who are not partisan hacks. They must speak out in the media. And if they cannot, it is time to go back to the home district, retire, and sing that CocaCola commercial or Kumbaya or something.

3. When Democrats talk of "bi-partisanship",
They mean "Let's bend a little and give the Republicans some of what they want". When Republicans speak of "bi-partisanship" they mean "Our way or the highway".
