Fred Phelps is at it again - protesting soldiers funerals WTF?

http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_pg=1636&u_sid=1466741&u_rnd=34246 (a little bird told me about www.bugmenot.com )

Friends and family members Saturday remembered Staff Sgt. Tricia Jameson as an upbeat woman with spirit, spunk and a hunger to help others.

Jameson, a 34-year-old medic in the Nebraska National Guard, died July 14 in Iraq when a roadside bomb exploded as she tried to assist injured Marines. She was less than three weeks into her tour.

<snip>

Before the service, Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy observed the dozen protesters who stood across the street. The Rev. Fred Phelps of Topeka, Kan., and his followers were on hand, as they have been at numerous military funerals, to spread their message that soldiers' deaths are God's revenge on a decadent nation.

 Stupid question I know, but do these people have an decency?

1. I didn't think I could be shocked by those nutcases any more. My mistake.
When your entire life reviolves around organizing hatred, I guess there is no low low enough.

Despicable. They make me hope that perhaps there is a hell.

5. Phelps is one psychotic bastard!

I say give all the right wing nuts two states, Idaho and Utah perhaps, and let them form their own government. We'll set up our own cadre of minutemen to make sure they don't cross the border.

9. I'm surprised
I'm seriously surprised that he hasn't gotten the crap kicked out of him (and his gang) for some of the stuff that he pulls off.

Is Hell even good enough for him?

17. They have, a few times...and that is how they fund this junk..
They goad people into physical attacks, then those evil "trial lawyers" sue. The $$$ awards fund their trips around the country.

Ignoring thenmis the best tactic...Take away their money ant the attention they crave, and they become toothless and ineffective.

12. Another one in Alabama
He has apparently managed to actually upset some of the local clergy for this one in Alabama. I think positively about how genuine supporters of the military will deal with him there!

Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 09:30 AM by KzooDem
I can't imagine he's going to be with us to long if he's protesting at soldiers' funerals. He'd better watch it...some magnetic ribbon festooned Hummer might just mow the sick fuck down.

14. No.
I live in Kansas and Phelps and his so-called followers (aka: family) will stoop to any level for shock value and press coverage. The less attention paid to them, the better.
