Uh - scuse me but........ |

I've been reading the exciting news regarding Hackett and the Ohio race that is heating up.
And I can't help but wonder - have they fixed the voting problems regarding Diebold there?
You know - I hate to be a spoilsport, but if nothing has changed regarding Diebold - then why do you actually think the powers that be will ever allow Hackett to win?
Are there paper receipts now? Have I missed something?

It will be a low turnout election, and it's possible that the fraud will be overwhelmed and that some of the dirty tricks won't be workable because they can't hide too obvious an attempt. Who knows? It's worth a try.
Worth watching. Closely. Very closely.

I read here at DU that there were going to be quite a few poll watchers. I hope there's a strong exit poll effort, too.

4. With all the swift-boating they're doing to Hackett |
|
Perhaps they are just trying, in advance, to set up a "reason" for Hacket to lose as they start programming their Diebold machines to do their dirty work. Just a thought. Otherwise, a patriotic Iraq War Veteran and popular Democrat losing to a Rightwing nut case might look kinda' suspicious, don't cha' think?

Are you talking about the Bush-Kerry '04 election, or Hackett-Schmidt?

6. For those who don't live in Ohio... |
|
some of the counties still use the punch ballots and some, I think, are using the optical scanners. To my knowledge Diebold equipment has not been certified in Ohio to Ken Blackwell's credit (about the only thing this asshole as done right).
I voted today in Warren county, Ohio today because I will be out of the State on Tuesday and Warren count still uses the punch ballots. I did look for chads and verified only one hole was punched and that it matched up with the candidate I voted for. It was easy since there are only two candidates on the ballot. Hopefully the shrill bitch will lose the race.
Of concern, there is an anti-tax group (CARE) in the region telling voters to stay home and not vote. They don't like Schmidt because, as a State representative she voted to raise taxes in Ohio and they would like to see another candidate run in 2006 against a Democrat because they think a sitting Democrat will be an easy target vs a sitting repuke. Go figure!

7. The Anti-Tax Campaign is Great News! |

It's much easier to convince people to stay home than to vote, and the target audience of that group is more likely to be Republicans. Even if it's not a large group, it could make all the difference.
