Writing a letter to the editor in response to this--what should I say,
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 06:59 PM by Arkana
and how should I say it?

Here's the letter (get your barf bags):

With gas prices at an all-time high, another terrorist attack, no solution to helping seniors with prescription drug costs and people with no health care, all Democrats offer is the Karl Rove leak to the press. Even Mother Teresa wouldn't escape their wrath. Don't they get it? Two lost elections in a row. The people are not easily fooled.

Sen. John F. Kerry should take all his medals, his billions and his wife and hibernate to his farm in the hills of Pennsylvania. While he's at it, he should take Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and Rep. James P. McGovern with him.

He's one sick bastard. Don't tell me I shouldn't waste my time--if you feel that way, don't respond. I just want help as to what I should put in my response and how I should put it together.

Thanks!

1. give him the link to poll sites
that show nation wide polling results for generic races for Congress in which the people of America are slowly but surely trending towards Dems in each and every poll.

2. Oooooh, I love writing letters
As __________ pointed out in his letter of (date), gas prices are at an all-time high despite record profits for the oil companies. Terrorist attacks continue despite the Mission Accomplished banner, meanwhile Bush has reacted to the ongoing failures in the War On Terror by renaming it. It turns out the big medicare drug-benefit scam was a sweet-heart deal for the drug companies, but did not deliver to the seniors. After 5 years of Bush, the health care crisis has gotten worse, with health care costs for workers rising three times faster than the rate of inflation since 2000, and a record number of uninsured Americans.

To top it all off, the so-called "War President" refuses to suspend the clearances of people who sabotage our own intelligence assets, in a time of war.

If ___________ was hoping to persuade more people to vote republican by drawing their attention to Bush's record, he may want to rethink his strategy.

3. reframe the debate
this is classic Rovian tactics, blame the liberals for the shape the country is in, it's their fault, they are rich and uncaring and have turned their backs on the little guy. (This is also classic hate radio
mantra.) Just do a little research, show how the republicans have been
the majority party since 2002, what has improved for the little guy,
hmm, let me think, gas prices, no, social security benefits, no, more
jobs, no, benefits for college, no, ease in voting and confidence in the election process, no, belief in honesty of government officials, no, (Delay, Taft, Bush, Rove), are you better off since the 2000 election,
no, do you think America is more safe from terror since the Republicans
have control of the White House and the Congress, No, do you think we
are winning the war that was started by this Republican administration,
no, do you realize that when the Democrats left office, we had a federal
surplus, now we have a rapidly escalating deficit, yes.

5. How about this
Dear Sir,

I see in your letter you do not offer any solutions to high gas prices, terrorism, senior prescriptions or health care.

The Republican party has only made the situation worse in all these areas. Gas prices have risen and the Bush Administration is doing nothing to make America energy independent. Progressive ideas are called bad for business when they are just bad for oil companies and car manufactures that make gas guzzling behemoths. The progressive idea of universal health care is called to expensive, but we have no problem wasting $200 billion dollars in Iraq. The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do terrorism or weapons of mass destruction. Now, Iraq is a training ground for terrorist thanks to the failed policies of Bush.

The Hippocratic oath says,"do no harm". The Bush administration has made things worse. Barrow and spend to pass on debt to our children. Environmental policies that will harm the health of every American. A Social Security plan that will barrow trillions and make your retirement less secure.

Congratulations on make the world a worse place for all of us.

6. You might very helpfully suggest that those bad things
that he listed in his letter have not been occurring in a vacuum and that it does not take that much of an imagination to see the links between this nation's ills and calamities and the deceptions of the architects of those calamities.
