Just heard Christopher Hitchens repeat the new spin on Iraq
THE UNITED NATIONS MADE US DO IT! The Bush admin is now claiming that they went to the UN with many reasons, mostly human rights, for invading Iraq, but that the UN would only consider WMD! Therefore, the US HAD TO use WMD as the reason! The gall of these people! If the UN rejected your human rights claims, you had to fall back on lies? You couldn't try to convince the world, if you thought you were right? You had to take matters into your own hands even though, according to your new spin, the UN did not buy your arguments? Self-righteous bastards! And anyway, why isn't anyone talking about the immorality of the whole thing? It's always discussions about tactics and persuasions and reasons... what about the idea that the ends don't always justify the means? Even if we buy your stupid argument that it is the responsibility of the US to get rid of leaders of other countries, what about the means of doing that? It's okay to bomb people, occupy their country, invite terrorists to their neighborhoods, destroy their police force, allow looting of their religious artifacts, and cripple them economically so we can get the ends we think they should have???

3. He is really drunk-looking, and condescending.
I have never read anything by him. I know he writes or edits in Vanity Fair, and they mentioned some books. Anybody who can tell me what his credential are and what else has he done besides acting like an condescending jerk?

6. I did what I should have done. Went to google.
He seems to have written a variety of things covering quite a spectrum. He wrote a book against Kissinger... he cannot be all bad.

7. LOL!
With strengths like those, he's got a world of career opportunities open to him, aside from running his mouth.

They included an article by Hitchens in "The Iraq War Reader" reprinted from Seattle's weekly The Stranger - he was so puffed up and full of himself I imagined him looking like the fat man in MP "Meaning of Life"

5. Was it true what that one woman said about Hitchens?
A woman called in on open phones and said that Christopher Hitchens had left his wife when she was 9 months pregnant. Has anyone heard this? Is it true?

10. It's a wonder
that their heads don't spin right off of their necks.

It reminds me of that liar character John Lovitz played on SNL. He kept changing his story every time he was busted on a lie. "Yeah, that's the ticket."

11. Oh how pathetic
You know, let them keep changing their stories. It just keeps proving our point to non-political Americans that these guys are nothing but liars. Imagine you're someone who doesn't pay much attention to the news. Last you heard, Saddam was going to hit us with a mushroom cloud so we invaded and we won. Now all you hear is another soldier was killed, no WMDs have been found, and the reason we invaded was to save the poor Iraqis from themselves. Oh, and it's gonna cost you 87billion dollars. No wonder the right is tanking. They can't keep their stories straight.

12. The most astonishing thing
Is how easily and readily the people are believing this shit.

Either FReepers are really stupid, or are really sick.

Neither outlook is very good for us.

But they want to believe this, because they hate the UN anyway. It stands in the way of American Imperialism.
