In the past - banks have given away toasters, coffee makers and other small appliances to those opening new accounts
I just logged onto my bank to do a little transaction - and what do I see? no toasters - but if you open a new account they will give you a $25.00 GAS CARD!
This isn't the first promo I've seen for "free gas" -- it seems to be the latest thing...
now - what does that tell you about the economy and energy?
meanwhile - government talking-heads are blathering about how well the economy is doing. But recent polls show that people do not feel the same way - economy is not good in their eyes.
from prescription meds, CAFTA, social security reforms, bankruptcy, tort reform and the latest transportation bill -- it's all benefiting the bush* buddies -- favors given for favors received

that the reason the banks aren't giving away toasters anymore is because the Vast International Homosexual Conspiracy has bought up all of them to give away as recruiting prizes!

5. It actually makes more sense |

There's only so many kitchen appliances that you can use, but nearly everyone uses gas constantly - or knows someone who does. However, I doubt the oil companies give much of a discount to the banks - I'd think they might just as well credit your account with the money (that's what banks in the UK generally do).

6. The $25 gas card probably doesn't cost them the full $25. (NT) |
