With a forty-something approval rating, the nation will understand that Bush is doing something very wrong with bypassing the advise and consent powers of Congress.... if he were to start recess appointments on a regular basis, the overriding theme of "we need to put a check on Bush's abuse of power" would be the backdrop of every House election in 2006. That is not what House Republicans or Bush wants to run on.

Have they laid the groundwork for exit polls and polls in general to be brushed aside as a load of hooey? We've already seen the phenomenal job they have done to marginalize science. Mathematics can only be a step behind.

I hate to admit I've been giving this line of thought some time, but what if they have gotten to the point where they control the polling companies and/or the dissemination of the polling results?

Even if the polls are released untampered, what kind of variation do we have to see before people wake up and take to the streets? Just outside the MOE, 5%, 10%, 20%?
