Unions and Andrew Stern. What's the web site that gives what donations

were given by people and organizations? I saw Andrew Stern on C-SPAN's Washington Journal this morning and the guy was asked...point blank by Peter, "Have you ever voted for a Republican?" and Stern said he had. Then Peter asked him "WHO?" and the bastard refused to answer! I KNOW he's a BUSHBOT and I want to see if he donated to the RNC during the last election. I know his union donated $500,000 to the REPUBLICAN Governors Assoc. and Sterns calls himself an Independent. He's a repuke out to destroy Unions. Anyone know anything about the guy?

Update <2005-3-2 19:3:59 by DHinMI>: Apparently some folks believe that the reference to Stephen Moore and the Club for Growth indicated that Andy Stern is sympathetic to their doctrinaire free-market beliefs. I don't believe that is the case, but as the NYT Magazine article shows, he does flirt with the idea of being to the Democratic party what the Club for Growth is on the Republican side:
Stern invited Moore to speak at an S.E.I.U. meeting in Chicago a few years ago -- which is roughly the equivalent of Michael Moore being asked over to the National Rifle Association for lunch. Sweeney is the reason this man is where he is today! Sweeney got him the job and must be kicking himself in the ass over it.

I don't trust the man just from hearing him on WJ this morning. He likes the DLC!!!! sheesh. RNC plant?

2. Stern's C-Span appearance this morning

i grabbed the following quote from Stern when the moderator asked him about what effect the union split would have on politics ... Stern said:

The Democrats have lost their moral compass on rewarding American workers' work ...

later, the moderator asked Stern if he had ever voted for a republican ... when he said he had, the moderator followed up and asked him which republicans ... Stern declined to answer that question ...

this led me to believe he had voted for bush (i.e. "w") because republicans further back in history would be less politically sensitive in today's climate ... it's just speculation, but that's how i interpreted his remarks ...

Confused. DFA works closely with SEIU still. Stern is right, one of the central goals of the DLC was to minimize unions and labor.

He is right that the Democrats have sold out labor.

my point was NOT to disagree with Stern's comments but merely to record them on DU ...

as for endorsing Dean, all i can say is that Stern indicated he has voted republican at some time in the past ... is there any reason to assume that his endorsement of Dean meant that he voted for Kerry?

as i said, it was only speculation on my part that he may have voted for bush ... we'll never really know ...

4. Stern's an opportunist from what I'm reading here. I know Sweeney and

admire his efforts in forging the bond between Democrats and working families.

We happened to lose the 2004 election after spending 45 million so it's "throw the bum out". Sweeney deserves better.
