Science Ficiton movies fortold future. Eeire, man.

Recently, a 10th planet was discovered. In the movie K-Pax, the Jeff Bridges character mentions 'the nine planets', and the Kevin Spacey character (who said he's from another planet) said 'actually, it's ten'.

Another one:

The Cassini probe picked up radio emmissions from Saturn. Converted into sound, it was a lot like the "space music" of the 1950s, a la "Forbidden Planet".

Co-ull

Saturn sounds: http://cassini.physics.uiowa.edu/space-audio/cassini/SKR1/SKR-03-324.wav

edit: to correct spelling. "co-ull" stays.

The lake is spelled "Erie" not "Eire".

But I think the poster really meant, "eerie".

2. 10th planet in other SF sources
Edited on Mon Aug-01-05 02:53 PM by James T. Kirk
It was mentioned in "Star Blazers" back in the 1970s. It was beyond Yuggoth, oops, I mean Pluto.

15. Either that or
something like the situation in "They Live" (except those aliens were probably smart enough not to make the economy implode).

12. Right: Apes. Not 'rangs or chimps
People call Bush a chimp. That's unfair to Cornelius and ... Kim Hunter's character.

He's more like James Gregory's ape. You know, the one that went on and on about raw, naked POW-ER!!

Must have been a member of PNAC.

16. It's been suspected for decades
All the outer planets were found by astronomers noticing some "wobbles" in the known planets' orbits that couldn't be accounted for by the known ones. Wobbles in Saturn's orbit provided the clues to find Uranus, Uranuses wobbles, gave clues to Neptune, But while Pluto was found, it wasn't enough to account for Neptunes' wobbles: ergo -- the possibility that "Planet X" was still waiting to be found.
