Filibuster Roberts SC nomination to force Bolton out of UN...??? |
|
So, could Bush's recess appointment of the incompetent Bolton -- when we need maximal UN diplomacy and cooperation -- be considered extreme enough circumstances to warrant blocking Roberts from the Supreme Court -- until/unless Bolton is called back?
Or would this not be allowed by the Senate rules? (Forget informal traditions and niceties; Bush's bypassing the Senate on Bolton warrants hardball.)

could do a recess appointment on Roberts; recess appointments to SCOTUS go back to George Washington.

... but at least the Dems will have done something to voice their displeasure of the Bolton appointment.

4. Can't do a SCOTUS recess appt. |
|
O'Connor expressly made her resignation effective only upon her successor's confirmation.
