Hollywood should do disturbing dystopia films on Religious Right Fascism
A few "Day After Tomorrow" type films that play out the course of current events to their logical conclusion, but instead of global warming/climate change they should make films about the Religious Reich Theocratic Fascist takeover of America that is happening right now.

Movies in the same tradition (but better made than) "Red Dawn" - films that portray how it could really happen here.

I think too many progressives downplay the influence of the RR in our overall political situation; I think the RR wields far more power than their numbers portray.

2. Just turn 1984 into a movie directed by Steven Spielberg

That should shock Americans enough. It should be enough to give people who knew what it was like to live under Nazi Germany or the Soviet Union nightmares and flashbacks, and it should be enough to give the rest of America something to be frightened of.

You can have prison camps for unionists, Democrats, Arabs, socialists, and anyone guilty of speaking out against the government, which would be classified as sedition by more authoritarian laws. In the cities, you can have checkpoints to "ensure the safety of all citizens." A tank at every intersection and a soldier on every street! You would be secure!

3. My friend made a movie of 1984 for a school assignment
But, um, that would probably have them laughing their asses off rather than shaking in fear... He made it a musical. Imagine a funny little Indian kid dancing around his laundry room singing his torture of Winston. And then, as the end credits roll, Winston, Julia, and "Big Sister" singing "My Heart Will go On."

Yeah... :silly:
