C-SPAN crazies out in force RE: Bolton ...
I just heard one caller say that he hoped Bolton would "call a meeting" at the UN and say 1) The US will never war in support of France ... whoever wants it can have it; 2) the US will not try to win the hearts and minds of its enemies but will grab them by the throat and the hearts and minds will follow; and 3) that his appointment is permanent because all Democrats have been rounded up against a wall and shot.

Where the hell do these people come from?

1. Were the callers from either Texas or Florida?
Lol! They make the best calls.

13. You've hit on something here.
Texas and Florida are clearly filled with right-wing nutcases, and the states in between are no prizes either. Someone should keep statistics on the state of origin of wacko C-SPAN callers. I do know that the worst of them usually speak with strong Southern accents (my apologies to decent Southerners; how do you stand it?).

Same place as the every day German in the 30's?

"And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you. The burden of self deception has grown too heavy, and some minor incident, in my case my little boy, hardly more than a baby, saying "Jew swine," collapses it all at once, and you see that everything, everything, has changed and changed completely under your nose. The world you live in – your nation, your people – is not the world you were in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. Now you live in a system which rules without responsibility even to God. The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way.

"You have gone almost all the way yourself. Life is a continuing process, a flow, not a succession of acts and events at all. It has flowed to a new level, carrying you with it, without any effort on your part. On this new level you live, you have been living more comfortably every day, with new morals, new principles. You have accepted things you would not have accepted five years ago, a year ago, things that your father, even in Germany, could not have imagined.

8. And Steve thanked him for his call.
I've heard Dem callers who get a bit rabid time to time get called on "ad hominem attacks".

10. The woman from Florida right before him
Broke my heart as she talked about her son in Iraq. You could hear the fear in her voice as she discussed her son not having the proper equipment and how the Iraqis hate them so much. But I guess, according to the next caller, she should be shot too because she voted for a Democrat. :eyes:

17. Whoa!
A caller said fellow Americans should be shot because they did not vote for *?

Yup, some C-Span callers. Certifiable.

15. I listen to C-SPAN every AM, and I find it pretty well balanced most of
the tiime, as far as the 'guests' that are on. But almost every time a caller from the RW gets on, there is a feeling of desperation to ensure that their point POV is listened to. That desperation shows in the voices of so many of them, I come to the conclusion that they haven't the faintest clue about anything that requires thought.

I have gotten through twice, and on both occasions, I have made my point clearly and distinctly. Once, the 'guest' refused to answer, and the second time, I saw the RW woman's jaw drop when I asked about 'accountability' of the bush admin. There was a physical reaction when I stated that the current admin demanded personal responsibility and sacrifice from the citizen, but seemed to show that they were exempt from either responsibility or sacrifice themselves.

In any case, I find C-SPAN informative oin many levels...but some of the topics bore the life out of me...:)
