When is enough…enough?
Today I was saddened to read that seven more American servicemen were killed in the line of duty in Iraq. This time they were United States Marines, next time it could be Soldiers or Airmen. It doesn’t matter how they served, it only matters that they did.

Over 1800 brave men and women have had their lives ripped from them in a horrible, grotesque manner. Words do not do justice to the destruction that has taken place to their bodies.

We have an all volunteer military (for now) and I’ve heard it argued that “nobody told them to join” or “hey, they knew what they were getting into when they signed on the dotted line”…utter bullshit.

The idea that we have an all-volunteer army is a misnomer. Sure, nobody sent these young people a letter that started with the word “greetings” and ended with them manning a .50 cal on a humvee in Iraq. However, ask these marines and soldiers why they joined and you will hear reasons such as they could not afford to go to college, or they couldn’t get a job that paid enough to support a family.

Some of them; still emotional from the terror attacks of September 11th joined to kill the people that attacked America. Maybe they lost friends and family on that horrible day, maybe they just saw it on television, no matter. The sentiment is the same, “lets get the bastards that attacked us!” Sadly enough though, very few of them would have that honor. You see, most were sent to Iraq and very few were sent to Afghanistan.

These 1800 or so brave souls died serving their country. They served with pride, and with honor.

When is enough…enough? When are we going to bring these troops home? Why were they not send to fight our enemy?

Only President Bush really knows the answers for sure, and he is not telling.

Sad.

3. Most of them are just babies. Way too young to understand what
they are signing when they enlist.

4. I do not believe
that president Bush is able to recognize that these soldiers are individual human beings, with lives that are just as important as his. Rather, I think he views them as an extension of himself, and hence views their death as a sacrifice on his part.

5. When they get kicked out or the American people tire of payting for it.
I'm betting on the first option. But, both will require more wormfood.

8. Enough is enough when middle America truly wakes up
When they realize that the only thing they have left are their lives.

It will be at a point where in reality and in understanding they realize:

-their jobs are outsourced
-their kids are at war...possibly dead
-they cannot afford healthcare
-they cannot used religion as a substitution for an education

It has to be to the point where the painkiller that is conservative media is innefective.
