As a Scioto County native, I can say that no matter what happens, I am proud of my county tonight!!

7. No these four are the easternmost, rural counties of the district
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 09:25 PM by theHandpuppet
The closer you get to Zinzinnati, the more red the vote becomes. That would include Clermont, Warren and Hamilton Counties.

(I say four because Brown County is closer to the rural eastern counties than the Cincy burbs)

8. Here's a side-by-side comparison of your results with Bush/Kerry...
Pike County:
Schmidt: 1,559 votes (37%) / Bush - 6,520 (52%)
Hackett: 2,659 votes (63%) / Kerry - 5,989 (48%)

Adams County:
Schmidt: 1,911 votes (48%) / Bush - 7,653 (64%)
Hackett: 2,101 votes (52%) / Kerry - 5,989 (48%)

Scioto County:
Schmidt: 2,638 votes (35%) / Bush - 18,259 (52%)
Hackett: 4,925 votes (65%) / Kerry - 16,827 (48%)

That's what I like to call damn good progress.

4. I have to go, but I hope some DUer will tally up the county
results and verify them against the totals that are being broadcast, to make sure nobody is slipping in 100 votes here, 200 votes there, etc

5. Schmidt likely winner in tight, tight election
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 09:19 PM by Roy
The Cincinatti Nation:

Schmidt likely winner
in tight, tight election
At 10:10 pm, Paul Hackett and Jean Schmidt are neck and neck in the vote count, with the Republican candidate slightly ahead. All results are in, except for Clermont County which is yet to report the tally from 91 precincts. But, with Hackett 800 votes behind it is unlikely that he'll be able to catch up.

2nd District Vote Tally < Hit refresh >
With 685 precincts of 753 reporting at 10:10 pm :
Paul Hackett (D) 48,811 49.56%
Jean Schmidt (R) 49,681 50.44%

Clermont County is the only
county still counting votes at 10:10 pm.
100 of 191 counties have reported results there.

Votes still being counted in Clermont County >
Vote count in Hamilton County - Cincinnati >
Hamilton Co website offline.
Vote count in Brown County >
Paul Hackett wins in rural Brown County
