Bush's Palmero friendship VS Bush's 2004 State of the Union
January 2004:

"To help children make right choices, they need good examples. Athletics play such an important role in our society, but, unfortunately, some in professional sports are not setting much of an example. The use of performance-enhancing drugs like steroids in baseball, football, and other sports is dangerous, and it sends the wrong message -- that there are shortcuts to accomplishment, and that performance is more important than character. So tonight I call on team owners, union representatives, coaches, and players to take the lead, to send the right signal, to get tough, and to get rid of steroids now. (Applause.)"

August 2005:

"Rafael Palmeiro is a friend. He testified in public and I believe him," the President said "He's the kind of person that's going to stand up in front of the klieg lights and say he didn't use steroids, and I believe him. Still do."

Has this contradiction (and more importantly, this inability to accepts the facts) been mentioned at all in the MSM?

If one thinks about, it could explain a lot (Bush on Iraq, Bush on Rove, etc.).

2. Thanks.
I was really hoping that I wasn't the first one to point this out, though.

Would have thought somebody bigger than here would have noted Bush's flip-flop on steroids.

3. * logic: My friends are not good examples so it is OK for them to break
the rules.

Or when they lie about it, it is OK to believe them.

"that there are shortcuts to accomplishment, "

Bushler wouldn't know anything about that, would he?

5. ESPN covered the contradiction yesterday
to my pleasant surprise.

The 3 man panel agreed gw should shut up and that he was caught in a "whopper". :)

8. ESPN, eh? well, that's a start
It just seems this is a dumbed-down enough issue for many stupid people to get it ("what's evil is evil, unless it's one of my buddies") and thus the MSM might think there's a market for it and cover it. I don't expect Hollaway coverage, but something about it.

If ESPN covered it, that's pretty dumbed-down. Thanks for the update.
