Rice knew! Did Bush? (Sunday MTP)
On today's MTP Russert asked Rice if she was "aware of" the CIA concerns about the Niger/uranium story. He showed a graphic describing the fact that Hadley sent her a memo specifically on that subject. Rice didn't say no! She danced pathetically.

Later she said she didn't remember the memo. But that's not the same as saying "No" is it? Looks like she knew.

Now for the $0.59 question. Was Bush aware that the Niger/uranium story was dubious? Some in the press have reported that he was aware. That would make him the ultimate in "read the fine print," slimy, weaselly salesmen.

Why can't someone just ask Bush the question Russert asked of Rice? (I only wish Russert had asked Rice if the president was aware...darn!)

Reposting this. Accidentally posted the original to LBN...

1. Kick
I seem to recall that someone (Tenet?) told him directly. Maybe someone else has an exact link/quote.

2. You mean you were expecting Russert to be tough on the Bush Admin?
Don't hold your breath on any one of the Kool Kids to ask a tough question.

3. Of course Bush knew
That info was requested directly from the VP. Wilson sent the info back to where it was requested. Now either the VP deliberatey kept Bush in the dark or Bush knew. Its so obvious....they all knew. They were doing and saying anything and everything they could to convince the people they consider sheeple (us) that going to Iraq was right. They figured they'd win this great victory and no-one would care. They came pretty close too. But they underestamated the Iraqi's and they screwed with the CIA. And now people are starting to catch on. And it is certainly way past time.

4. Either....
1)Bush knew and participated in the deception knowingly.

or

2)He didn't. And if he didn't know the details of something this key to his most important initiative (and speech), then he is so far out of the loop that voters should rebel on the grounds of basic incompetance.

How many secretaries does she have to help her keep up with all these lies?

14. Here it is
http://www.msnbc.com/news/973028.asp?0dm=C21AV

It's really easy to find. If you don't have a link like this, just go to www.msnbc.com and look at the black menu along the left side of the screen. Put the cursor over TV News and a submenu comes up with MTP towards the bottom. Move the cursor down to that and another submenu comes up with transcripts of the last month's worth of shows (anything older isn't available--anyway, I don't know how to look for older stuff).

7. They knew, and they took an opportunity to take advantage of us
The average folks assume the government knows more and so it gives them the benefit of the doubt.

8. You can bet there would have been searching questions had this been
done during a Democratic Administration. Redundant of course, since this would not have been done during a Democratic Administration.

9. Of course he knew.........
or he's more incompetent than I suspected. If a middle-aged white woman from WV knew, I ask you, how in the world could he NOT have known?
