Vietnam Vet on local Fox affiliate with 2 soldiers just back from Iraq |
|
The Vietnam vet is a member of Veterans for Peace & The Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center. He's talking about the anti-war movement. The Iraq vets are saying how much they respect anti-war protesters! All saying you can be against the war and support the troops.
The Iraq vets are an interesting pair. One worked in a medical corp., and had good experiences with the Iraqi people. The other guy I think is a grunt, he was much more reserved/cautious in his assessment of how the Iraqi people responded to US military presence.
Vietnam vet just said he was against all war. The interviewer asked, "Well, what about Hitler? Wasn't that justified?" And he answered that history has proven that the world had plenty of opportunity to forestall WWII but we chose not to intervene until Hitler really got aggressive.
He was also asked how he felt about the Iraq soldiers & vets having so much public support whereas the Vietnam vets were not supported widely by the public. He replied that we have to get over Vietnam and start focusing on the current troops and new vets, particularly with regard to cutting medical and other benefits.
I can't believe this is on Fox. :wow: Of course it's on the morning show, after 8am when people with day jobs couldn't possibly see it, but still... I can't believe they have anyone sympathetic to the anti-war movement on.

2. One thing about the viewership |
|
I'm always amazed (and thoroughly disgusted) at the number of businesses, at least around here, that have FauxViews tuned in for their customers. Gas stations, car repair/maintenance shops, many hotel lobbies, and restaurants.
Makes me gag how deeply entrenched the propaganda machine has become.

4. Yes, that occured to me, too. |
|
Bet the customers over at Grease Monkey got to watch it. Over at Pete's Cafe, too. Those are just two places within two blocks of my house that I know have Fox on all day.
It makes me smile to think of the hawks who watched the Vietnam vet and the Iraq guys weren't trashing him at all. Their little brains must have blown out trying to reconcile their hatred of a vet working for peace with the fact that current forces weren't angry at him!

. . .eating breakfast. One of those "free" breakfast in the morning deal. Well, i'm just doing bagels and coffee, but i went to the front desk and said "Give me the remote for the TV. I'm not watching Fox News!" I put on ESPN. Nobody said a word. The Professor

3. I can't believe it is either but maybe local Faux stations have |
|
a little more wiggle room than Fox News Channel.
I don't know if that's true, but it's my theory. Either way, great to hear that these views are being given some air time.

7. Yes, I think they must have more leeway. |
|
Sometimes they even cover local protests.
Not often enough, though.
