Bush has empathy burnout

After his appearance at the Scout jamboree to help mourn the loss of scouts in the lightning, heat, and electrocution accidents, he's just drained of emotion. Have a little mercy on him. Don't trouble him with the deaths of a few Marines in Iraq. He needs a short vacation to recharge his emotional batteries. He gave at the office.

What you are seeing is a Bush who is burned out from engaging in emotional labor- he tries to maintain an appropriately sad appearance but he really doesn't feel sad. This causes emotional dissonance- his displayed emotions are not consonant with his felt emotions.
