"Prayer chain and FAST for a fair up-or-down vote for Judge Roberts"
"We are in a desperate hour and we desperately need God's favor."

:eyes:

=====

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Faith and value groups issue a national call for public prayer and fasting in front of the Supreme Court for the Confirmation hearings of Judge John Roberts.

The groups will discuss their plans at a news conference on Thursday, August 4th, at 11:00 A.M. on the public sidewalk in front of the Supreme Court.

News Conference Details---

When: Thursday, August 4, 11:00 A.M.

Where: On the public sidewalk in front of the U.S. Supreme Court

Who: Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, and other faith and value group leaders.

Why: Event details are available online at http://prayatthecourt.com/

Two of the principal organizers of the event, the National Clergy Council and the Christian Defense Coalition, organized and led prayer vigils and rallies for Chief Justice Roy Moore regarding the Ten Commandments and recently for Terri Schiavo.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "The composition of the Supreme Court is one of the most critical issues facing our nation today. The next person serving on the court will determine its direction for the next 30 years. Those decisions will impact our children and their children for generations to come. In light of this, it is imperative that the faith community passionately seeks God for His mercy, direction and guidance. We must have men and women on the court that will honor God and the Constitution, protect the dignity of all life, safeguard the sanctity of marriage and respect religious freedom and liberty in the public square. We will be asking God to guide and lead the Judiciary Committee so Judge Roberts will get a fair and just hearing."

For more information or interviews call: Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney 202.547.1735 Cell: 540.538.4741

In light of this, it is imperative that the faith community passionately seeks God for His mercy, direction and guidance. We are in a desperate hour and we desperately need God's favor. Our attitude must be the same as the prophet Daniel when he prayed;

"Incline your ear, O my God, and hear. Open your eyes and look at our desolation and the city that bears your name. We do no present our supplication before you on the ground of our righteousness, but on the ground of your great mercies. O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, Listen and act and do not delay!"
Daniel 9:18 - 19.

It is critical that we have men and women on the Supreme Court that will honor God and the Constitution, protect the dignity of all life, safeguard the sanctity of marriage and respect religious freedom and liberty in the public square.

So as the prophet Joel did centuries ago, we are sounding a trumpet for the church and all people of good will to come to Washington, D.C. for an urgent time of prayer and fasting. We would ask that you consider joining us for at least one day. The call to prayer and fasting will begin with a rally and prayer vigil at the Supreme Court on Sunday, September 4th, at 3:00 P.M. with national Christian and political leaders. We will continue in prayer until September 12 or until the confirmation hearings end.

1. these people realize that Roberts won't overturn Roe, right?
He won't force jews, muslims, uppity blacks and pagans out of the coutnry.

He won't ban gays.

He won't bring Terri Shaivo back to life.

Or are they just stupid?

10. Why didn't God keep Schaivo alive?
I mean, all of God's best friends (Falwell, Robertson, Bush, etc) all wanted her to live. So why didn't he keep her alive?

12. "He works in mysterious ways."
That seems to be the conversation stopper when you ask questions like that. ;)

9. As long as that carrot is dangled in front of them, they'll keep
trying to grab it. Most Republican politicians know that Roe won't be overturned, but also know that to get elected you have to play the 'pro-life' card.

5. Well, hopefully they'll fast a good long time. . .
It would solve a lot of problems if they'd just stop eating for say . . . 6 months or so.

8. I pray that Bush's nominee gets forced through
And, when he does, they will probably use it as evidence that God is on their side.

11. I hope they starve to death. Sorry, not very charitable today.
Especially towards those who don't give a flying fig about the people who are REALLY starving on this planet.

Less fundie freaks sounds really good right now.

16. yeah...you do that...pray yourself silly..
Prayer: to ask that the laws of the universe be annulled on behalf of an intercessor, admittedly unworthy.
