How long has Rush Limbaugh been pro-life?

I remember hearing him in the late 80s/early 90s and being completely appalled by him, but one thing he would never discuss was abortion. In fact, he wouldn't even give an opinion on it b/c a caller had clued him in on the fact that the extreme pro-life crowd wants to ban the pill and other contraceptives they consider to be "abortificants."

I never listen to him but have seen bits here and there lately that seem to indicate he's on board as "pro-fetus'.

Does anyone else remember when he wouldn't discuss this issue?

2. Rush has stated on the air, albeit in the early 1990's he was pro-choice.

He then "qualified" it by saying he opposed abortion as birth control as the "femi-nazis" demand and as liberals demand so as not to upset his audience.

8. I don't get the abortion as birth control arguement.

It is birth control in that it's controlling when birth occurs. It might be a second level of contraception - when the first has failed, but, except for the occasional horror stories, what woman could afford to have an abortion every month?

10. It's just misread statistics...

There is just a large number of women who have repeat abortions. Conservatives like to label them irresponsible. I would like to classify them as maybe forgetful (if they can't remember the pill everyday, a condom every time, a shot every quarter, or a patch every week) but also very steadfast in their beliefs. And who's to blame them for that?

9. Since he has realized that Big Church

is one of his major supporters, listener wise, and therefore revenue wise.

That and the fact that the majority of his listeners are angry males who seem to feel their grip on power is getting smaller and smaller, therefore want to control our (my) bodies.

Like the post above said - its all opportunist.

And I don't know who on DU came up with the term Big Church, but I know that i read it here first, and I love it. Thanks.
