Rove & the pig republicans just want us to give up and give them CA
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 09:49 PM by elad
with that bullshit poll of 787 people, where in Orange County? (they never called me any of the people I know.) Yes, let's just give up. Because small voter turnout always favors repugs. This is bullshit. Rove is running the show his fingerprints are everwhere. NO on the reall...is going to win! Davis will remain in office without a doubt in my mind.

Since Davis became governor at the beginning of 1999, California has added 658,000 jobs outside the farm sector, a 4.8 percent increase. Nationwide, nonfarm payrolls have risen just 1.9 percent

Education has been at the top of his agenda," said Abdi Soltani, executive director of Californians for Justice, a group that battles the governor's pro- testing policies.

"I would give (Davis) an 'A' for the fact that the state did set academic standards," said Republican Pete Mehas, Fresno County's superintendent and former education adviser to Gov. George Deukmejian. "But I was disappointed that the state put off for so long the high school exit exam."

Well if that's the only way to keep a dem in office... I'm not so sure. Davis has screwed up a lot of what this state is/was.

7. Davis' 'screw ups' are all linked to BUSH!!!
Economy bad? Whole country has a bad economy. Whose fault is that?

Energy companies ripped state off? Companies who all made major donations to who in the Presidential race? Companies all left uninvestigated for violations by which justice department?

I could go on.

8.  why is this the first recall in any state in over 100 years give or take?
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 06:16 PM by Oracle
Every Guv in every state makes mistakes, has fuck ups and offer shitty politics and everyone has some kind of problems...but why this recall immediately after the election that DAVIS won fair and square.

Is it possible it's republican politics trying to steal another state?

It's ALL republican money who paid for the recall.

And it's republican money paying for muscleheads bullshit campaign.

And ithe republicans who will benefit IF Arnold wins, as will Rove Bush and the rest in 2004.

10. Another person who doesn't know what they are talking about
Here is a very concise article on the California economy, the budget and where responsibility lies for it...once you have read it, please feel free to rebut it with more than a oneliner about a GADFLY like Camejo who CANNOT win and is as guilty for supporting this recall as the Republicans.

The gap between revenue and spending is indisputable — it is the heart of the state's current budget crisis. But a close examination of where spending went up illustrates why keeping California's budget in balance has become so difficult, regardless of which party controls the governor's office.

Although the precise 40% figure used by Republicans is debatable, spending during the Davis years has grown faster than the combined effects of inflation and the state's population would suggest. But the same was true during the last Republican administration.

Spending from the state's general fund, currently $70 billion, actually grew by a smaller percentage in the first four years of Davis' tenure than during the preceding four years under Gov. Pete Wilson, when the inflation rate was lower.

17. That's what you say. Now, care to say why?
You want to back up your assertion with some links and/or facts? At any other time, Camejo would be a fine candidate for governor. But not now. Forget about backing *any* candidate -- and think about stopping this damned recall.

This is a serious issue of a Republican power-grab; it's not about selecting the correct brand of boutique candidate, it's about stopping the Rove/Bush cartel.

9. It's a shame that Davis doesn't have that "inner Elvis"
but I'm not as worried as some about Arnold. I really believe that if that jerk gets in he will screw up so quickly, so publically and so spectacularly that he will wipe out the Republicans chances in CA for the next decade. I don't care how many "advisors" he's got.

Dumb question - if the recall passes and a new governor is elected, do they just serve out Davis' remaining term or do they serve a full term?

11. The remainder of Davis' term
and although Davis is no Elvis, he has never lost a race yet to my knowledge..I am not going to be pie in the sky about it..it could happen this time...but he may be able to pull it off...

All the polls now are simply trying to keep Dems home.

12. Wrong...it'll be the blame Clinton, it's his fault shit...
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 06:54 PM by Oracle
(Only insert the Davis' name for Clinton's)

The republicans will say an use it as they did with Clinton, when things get fucked up by the repugs, as they put the republican agenda in place...giving industries and corporations the unregulated run of California...they will tell us, they are just making it a better environment for business, to create more jobs for YOU!

As environmental restrictions, wildlife, workers rights, workers safety, infrastructure, pollution, will all take a backseat in the name of “business.”

As a repug governor appoints more right-wing judges in the state, the insurance industry will have their way with the people of California, the republicans will point the finger with the state's problems on blacks, immigrants, gay people, women’s rights, workers rights, and pot smokers (medical or otherwise) as the problems and what we must deal with...

Just smokescreens, as the republicans and corporations steal us blind.

15. Repugs have been after the coastal commission appointments
and if they get Arnold in, there will be coastal oil drilling again.. Davis has been stopping them, but a republican governor, especially one who is stupid and owes his job to Bush, will appoint the "right" people to the commission..

The ones pulling the strings make it appear to be about the governorship, but underneath it's about so many other things.. The governor actually has his hands pretty much tied.. Most of the budget items are mandated, but the APPOINTMENTS are the real deal.. They love to nibble at the edges, until finally, they have control over it all..and while they were nibbling, the rest of the people did not even notice what was happening..

a judge or two here, a commission appointment there, and before you can say Governor Gang-Bang, California "goes for Bush", and who's in charge of recounting or whatever?? Arnold "Jeb" Schwarzenegger & crew.

16. I'm feeling more upbeat about this today
I went to visit my parents to help out with some chores today. They are diehard republicans and have never voted for a Democrat. They are voting against the recall because it is not democratic and they hate Arnie. If they are voting against then I think many other republicans who do care about the state and democracy will too.

:bounce:

19. Nice to hear...It's going to be a big push these last nine days!
Edited on Sun Sep-28-03 07:30 PM by Oracle
A lot is going to happen. And it's obvious we are not going to get much help from the media, after seeing that silly, ridiculous, 787 person poll, they barfed out today...it's exactlly as NSMA said (above here a couple of posts) they want Democats to stay home and forget about voting, because it's useless.

That's the media's plan (and man this smell just like Karl Rove) to make like it like it's already over, the recall will fail, Arnold has it locked up, take the winds out of the Democratic sails, keep them home on voting day, with a, what's the use, attitude.

However, it's not going to work...as I heard a national democratic figure say today...the democratics in California are "fired-up" and there's no way to poll that or give a percentage number on the recall or the turnout.

We have to convince everyone it's not over and to stay fired-up!

FUCK THE MEDIA!!!
