That al-Qaeda video-- sure is strange
Anyone notice how these videos appear, say a week before the election or a day after 21 Marines were killed? I wonder if Karl Rove has any control over when they are released.

1. IMHO it's no coincidence; they're staged
Ever heard of Emmanuel Goldstein?

That's pretty much what I suspect is going on.

3. The mythical, ever changing enemy in '1984' by Orwell.
Needed to foster fear and justify endless war against Eurasia, or Eastasia, or whoever the enemy of the day is.

4. he was the "bad guy" according to Big Brother in 1984
Emmanuel Goldstein was supposedly a subversive who recruited people to be revolutionaries or rebels or terrorists in Orwell's novel "1984." Most strikingly, his book, "The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism" was actually the manifesto of Big Brother's own totalitarian government. That is, he was not in fact a rebel, but rather, he was the person who devised the very theories and principles by which the totalitarian government operated.

It was a video recording representing Goldstein giving a speech about those political principles which was reviled during the Two Minutes' Hate, a recurring mandatory government-sponsored mass television viewing event (11AM daily), during which people were required to demonstrate sufficient patriotism by screaming angrily against Goldstein, under pain of imprisonment, torture, and death if they failed to demonstrate such.

In a similar vein, Al Qaeda leaders' various statements truthfully describe the workings and motives of the US government and "shock" various persons with their insight. The various leaders of Al Qaeda are likewise unobservable outside of government-supplied video.

5. I thought the same thing right after
I heard about it on the radio news. Right after the death of Marines are reported the tape is reported. And I thought, "yup, yup. Keep on reminding the sheeple why those Marines are dying by scaring them with more terrorist threats."

6. The one that popped up before the election was held up from early Sept.
They probably timed it then to counter when Kitty Kelley's book came out, but since the media pretty much ignored her revelations and attacked Dan Rather instead, they could hold it off till closer to the election.

Wanna bet that's how it went down.

18. Yes, that fatter Osama vidcap almost looks stretched on the horizontal
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 11:39 PM by Bucky
It's amazing how even his hat gets fatter in the second image (the indoor one with the reddish-brown backdrop). So not only is his face thinner in the earlier, outside picture, but he's also wearing a thinner hat. What an ingenius disguise!

Sarcasm aside, clearly the later picture has been stretched out on the X-axis, making him appear fatter. It's the same guy, but from screen caps from different TVs with different horizontal adjustments. Otherwise the hat wouldn't appear to get that much thinner, morphing over to the earlier vidcap

7. I think they have a truckload
They will of course save the bin laden ones a week before the 2006 elections, and the MSM will do thier bit saying Bin Laden wants the democrats to win.

8. No doubt about it. The media was virtually silent about the heavy
casualties yesterday. They gave Bush time to put some psyop in motion. Today we get Zawahiri and "stay the course". They were careful to only get two soundbites in because they know if they try for two complete sentences he'll screw them up. The degree to which they orchestrate this stuff is truly breathtaking. Thanks for starting the thread.

12. What did you do with your Hillary avatar?
And, no, dear - don't think for a moment that the White House, a la Karl Rove, doesn't know exactly when to release info to push the correct buttons.

Whether it's true in this case, I don't know - but it's certainly been true before and will be true again.

For kicks, chart the "terrorism alert" system (yellow, green, blue, orange, red) against times when some awful Bush policy or horrendous news about the Bush cabal was finally making its way into the mainstream press. You'll be surprised at how many times terrorists allegedly were gonna attack us just when the proverbial shit was about to hit the fan for Shrubery.

14. Huh?
We were talking about Al-Qaeda footage being released at particular moments.

I'm not defending Al-Qaeda. I'm just saying the government has control over when it releases certain information and can opt to release it at the most opportune time for Bush - and does in a lot of instances.

Maybe not THIS time, but it has in the past.

about 35 years old and no beard. Are we to believe that this is the same man. Remember the beheading video? How can this be the same guy?
